🚨🚨SPECIAL READ: 10 TEAMS THAT FELL AFTER LOSING THEIR FRANCHISE STAR.

With the Bryce Harper decision on the horizon, it's obvious that the Washington Nationals (barring a miracle), will be at most, out of the playoff party for years to come if Harper leaves (which he most likely will). Harper put baseball in DC on the map, leading them to 4 division titles in 7 seasons, while also winning the 2012 Rookie of the Year award in , being an All-Star 6 times, being an MVP once ( In 2015) and won the 2018 HR Derby in front of his home crowd, after waiting years just to do it in front of them.

But, the reason why Harper is leaving is that he has never won a playoff series with this Nationals franchise, who once again missed the playoffs this 2018 season.

So with Harper out the door and Washington about to lose its star player, we take a look at 10 other teams that suffered after they lost its star.

1. BOSTON RED SOX- BABE RUTH

It's clear, which team should be number one on this list. In the 1919 offseason, when then-Sox owner Harry Freeze, out of nowhere made a blockbuster trade!

He sold the clear MVP of the 5-time world champion Red Sox, Babe Ruth to the New York Yankees, for $100,000 in cash. The minor stuff in the sale, were 11 other players to NY, while Boston got full ownership of Fenway Park.

After that, Boston endured 86 years of heartache, as time and time again, they continued to fall short of a World Series trophy, while coming inches( as in one strike away) numerous times.

To make matters worse, they had to watch and see the Yankees win 26 titles in that 86 year span.

PS : Since then, things have changed, Boston has won 4 titles in the past 15 years, while the Yankees only have one.

2. CHICAGO BULLS- MICHAEL JORDAN

Oh yes, we all know who Michel Jordan is, the greatest basketball player of all time. ( Sorry LeBron)

Jordan changed the way the game of basketball was played like nobody has ever seen before, and won 6 championships ( 2 )three-peats to show for it.

But it has been over 20 years now , since MJ last played for Chicago and the Bulls have never reached the finals since then. sure, there was Derrick Rose for a few years, ( Including when the Bulls got as close as the 2011Eastern conference finals) but then he got hurt and the Bulls haven't reached that round since then. Today, the Bulls continue to be in the NBAs basement and haven't won since a title since 1998.

3. MONTREAL CANADIENS- PATRICK ROY

Montreal has 24 Stanley Cups, the most out of any NHL team! So why are they on this list? Well, that's because they haven't won since 1993, led by Hall of Fame goaltender, Patrick Roy.

The Canadiens, ( Or Habs) lost out on Roy via trade, in 1996. Roy wasn't pulled until he allowed 9 goals in a regular season game and told Montreal management, that he was through being a member of the Habs. So Montreal sent him to the Colorado Avalanche, where he won them 2 Stanley Cups, ( 1996 and 2001).

Since then, the Habs haven't been able to replace Patrick's success in net, as even though they have tried with Cary Price.

The Canadiens, haven't reached the finals, despite reaching the playoffs numerous times, after Roy's departure.

Today, as you can imagine, they are a team in the NHL's basement.

4.ARIZONA DIMONDBACKS- CURT SCHILLING

One of the reasons, why the Arizona Diamondbacks, upset the New York Yankees in the 2001 World Series, ( to my dismay) was because of Curt Schilling, being part of a1-2 punch with Randy Johnson ,which formed a deadly duo atop Arizona's rotation. Just when it looked like, this could be an annual occurrence, Curt left the team in 2002, via free agency, by joining the Boston Red Sox. The Diamondbacks never recovered after that, while Schilling won two championships, with the Boston Red Sox.

Arizona hasn't won the NL West since 2001 and haven't won a playoff series since then.

Today, Arizona is in rebuild mode.

5. MIAMI DOLPHINS- DAN MARINO

Yes, I know the Dolphins still haven't won a Super Bowl since that historically perfect season, in 1972, but it's not like they have been tanking for the last 40+ years either, because they had Dan Marino!

Marino was drafted by the Dolphins in 1980 and served as the backup QB in his first three seasons, before finally becoming the starter in 1983.

Dan led the Dolphins to three straight division crowns and a Super Bowl berth in his first three years as a starter with the fish. Over the next 13 years, the Dolphins won the AFC East three more times, while also making the playoffs 8 times, though never coming as close as they did in 1985 when they reached the Super Bowl.

Since then, the Dolphins, have been mostly in rebuild mode, trying to replicate what Marino brought to the team. A franchise Quarterback.

6. L.A/STL RAMS- KURT WARNER

After leading the Rams to five Super Bowls, (even winning one in 1999).

Now Hall of Fame member Kurt Warner, left in 2004 free agency, to the Arizona Cardinals, for the last four years of his career.

There, Warner led them to a Super Bowl appearance

Since the Warner era, the Rams have mostly fallen out of Super Bowl contention and have either just barely squeezed into the playoffs, or were just flat out awful.

Today, the Rams are finally good again, as were the 2018 NFC champions, and a have bright future ahead of them.

They are being led by youngsters, Jared Goff, and Todd Gurley.

7. INDIANAPOLIS COLTS- PEYTON MANNING

Peyton Manning savedthe Colts franchise, after years of playoff heartbreak,by leading his team to a Super Bowl title in 2006.

After that, more years of playoff heartbreak came, before Peyton starting having injury problems, which led to the Colts releasing him in 2012, after being on the sidelines for 2 years.

Manning was picked up by the Denver Broncos, and won a Super Bowl with them in 2016, before retiring.

Since the Manning era ended, the Colts have found Andrew Luck as their replacement!

However, Luck has endured the same fate as Manning, except he hasn't played like his successor in 8 seasons either. The injury bug has gotten to him, which has derailed him, in his quest to fill Mannings' shoes.

Today, the Colts are an average team overall, as Luck continues to struggle and fill Manning's shoes.

8. LA LAKERS-SHAQ

Shaquille O'Neil was the star of the Lakers dynasty from 1998-2003, where they won 4 championships, (including a three-peat, from 2001-2003).

But unfortunately for the Lakers, tensions rose between him and superstar teammate Kobe Bryant, which ultimately, made Shaq request a trade out of Hollywood.

He got his wish, as in the 2004 offseason, Shaq was traded to the Miami Heat, where he then won another championship with them in 2006.

As for Kobe, it would take him, six years full of criticism ,before finally wining his first title with out Shaq in 2010.

After that, Kobe began the decline of his career, which saw him retire in 2016.

But the Lakers now have LBJ so they should be fine!

9. CLEAVLAND CAVILERS- LEBRON JAMES

After being drafted by his hometown Cavs in 2003, LeBron lived up to all the hype that was surrounding him, as he entered the NBA, by carrying the Cavs, year after year to the postseason and even once to the 2007 NBA Finals.

However, in the summer of 2010, Cleveland's perception for LBJ changed, as James announced on national television, that he would be signing with the Miami Heat and joining Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh, to form a deadly big 3.

There, LBJ won two championships, in four straight ,finals appearance sas the Cavs went all the down to the NBA basement.

All is forgiven now, that LeBron returned home in 2014 free agency, and gave Cleveland their coveted championship in 2016!

But, what he did in 2010, will forever remain in NBA history.

Today as you can imagine, the Cavs are back in the NBA basement now that LBJ is in Hollywood.

Also in LeBron's second stint in Cleveland, he carried the team to 4 straight finals, with the last one being in2018.

PS: I was fortunate enough to go to game 3 of that 2018 NBA Finals! Thanks, mom!

10. MIAMI HEAT- LEBRON JAMES

Ever since James left, the Heat have struggled into getting back to that point. Even struggling with gettinginto conference finals contention! Crazy how one player can change an entire franchise am I right?

Today the Heat, is a mediocre team, with Chris Bosh recently retiring and Wade about to end his career as well.

PS: Just want to thank my dad Adam Azrak for this idea!
