Hey guys , what’s up? Well I’ll tell you what’s up, the World Series is over , and the Boston Red Sox have cemented themselves in history, as one of the greatest teams ever .
After dismantling the Yankees in the ALDS, the Boston Red Sox dethroned the Houston Astros 4 games to 1, by wining the last 4 games including 3 in Houston, which also featured a memorable 8-6 victory, that can arguably be decided on a controversial fan interference call.
In the World Series, they dismantled the Los Angeles Dogers in 5 games ( 8-4, 4-2,2-3,9-6,5-1) in a series that featured some memorable moments.
Game 1: Eduardo Nunez hits a pinch hit 3 run HR to put the Dogers away and give the Sox an 8-4 lead in the 7th. It was the first pinch hit World Series home run , since the iconic Kirk Gibson one in 1988.
Game 3: After a 4-2 loss In game 2, the Dogers were itching to get back home to LA and get themselves back in this World Series, which they did with a classic 3-2 win in 18 innings over the Red Sox .
Dodgers Rookie pitcher Walker Buhler , pitched 7 scoreless innings, and left with LA up 1-0.
But just like they have done all year , the Red Sox rallied on a HR by JBJ ( Jackie Bradley JR, who by the way was the ALCS MVP) ,in the 8th to tie the game at 1.
In extra innings, Cody Belinger saved a run for the Dogers with a catch and gun down at home play to keep Ian Kinsler from scoring for Boston.
In the 13th inning, a throwing error, by reliver Scott Alexander of the Dodgers made a bad throw to first , which scored Brock Holt and gave the Red Sox a 2-1 lead in the 13th.
But in the bottom of the 13th, a potential game ending ground ball was thrown away by Red Sox 3rd basemen Eduardo Nunez , which led to a game tying run for LA.
Finally In the bottom of the 18th, Max Muncy put an end to this 7:23 minute game , the longest in Postseason history, with a walk off oppo taco HR off Sox pitcher Nathan Evoldi to get LA back in the series and give them a 3-2 win.
Game 4 :
Nathan Evoldi was supposed to start this game for the Red Sox but ...
Why Nathan Evoldi didn’t pitch game 4:
He was supposed to pitch in this game but the previous night , Sox starter Rick Porcello pitched only 4 innings , causing Boston, to empty their bullpen.
By the time the 10th inning came , they had nobody left , so they had to use Evoldi.
He pitched the rest of the game .
8 Innings , gave up the walk off HR to Max, and Threw 97 pitches .
So Eduardo Rodriguez is on the mound for the Sox .
Meanwhile, Rich Hill went for the Dodgers.
The scoring didn’t start until the 6th inning, when Cody Belinger came up with the bases loaded and 1 out .
Cody hit a ground ball that was thrown home for one out , but the double play ball got away from first base, scoring a run.
Right after that , the Dodgers pounced , as Yasuel Puig drillled a 3 run seemingly knockout punch blow to left, to bring the Dodgers crowd to its feet and put LA up 4-0!!
But the Red Sox haven’t quit all year ,and now wasn’t a good time to start , (after their historic 108 win regular season).
So they did what great teams do, and game back , Sox pitcher Chris Sale pumped his team up in the dugout, and Mitch Moreland blasted a 3 run HR to left , (just after Hill left the game for LA,) to make it a 4-3 game in the 7th.
In the 8th, Sox veteran Steve Pearce cake to life , when he blasted a game tying HR off LA closer Kenley Jansen to tie the game at 4!
In the 9th Rafael Devers notched an RBI single , and Steve Pearce put a cap on his memorable night with a 2 out bases clearing 3 run double , to put LA away , and put his team 27 outs from a World Championship with a 9-6 win.
Game 5: Pearce picked off right where he left off in game 4, as he took LA ace Clayton Kershaw deep for a 2run HR that gave Boston an early 2-0 lead in the first .
On the mound for Boston, was David Price , and besides giving up a first pitch HR to David Freese, he was brilliant going 7 Innings of 1 run ball , while the offense mashed their way to a World Series title .
Mookie Betts , JD Martinez , and Steve Pearce all homered throughout the rest of the game , and Chris Sale came to close out LA, giving Boston their 9th World Series Championship( And 4th since 2004), with a 5-1 win over the Dodgers.
The championship caps a memorable season for the Bosox :
108 regular season wins ( Most in franchise history)
119 total wins ( second all time to the 1998 New York Yankees ( 125)
Went 11-3 in the playoffs.
Captured the city s 37th Championship, and their 11th of the century, virtually putting themselves ahead of NY for the best sports city .
Note : Only took the top NY teams from each sport to be fair in that “City” stat.
Titles this century:
Boston 11 ( 5 Patriots , 4 Red Sox , 1 Celtics , 1 Bruins )
New York 3: ( 2 Giants (07,11) 1 Yankees (2009)
Oh and speaking of New York :
Yankees offseason calendar update:
The WS is over , Congrats to the Boston Red Sox , tip of the cap to you guys , they earned it .
But now it’s time to light the Hot Stove starting with
Wednesday October 31st :
Brett Gardner needs to make a decision by then , is stay or Go?
Or opt out and sighn a new contract.
What do u guys think ?
Prediction :
Opt out and sighn a 1-2 year contract.
Other NY teams :
As I write this on (10/29), the Knicks have just defeated their rival Brooklyn Nets 115-96, at MSG, with Tim Hardway JR leading the way for the Knickerbockers, (as he has done the whole season,)
25 points.
The Knicks are now 2-5
Note : The Knicks are actually much better than their record, as they have earned their respect , from NBA juggernauts , such as the Warriors and the Celtics, batting them to the wire ! Things are looking up New York , especially with coach David Fizdale at the helm, for the Knicks running the fast paced offense, that Knicks fans hav fallen in love with!
Just wait until star Kristaps Porzingis comes back , and if Kevin Knox can stay healthy, the Knicks look like a potential playoff team in the Eastern Conference!
Note : This won is payback from 10 days earlier when the Knicks lost to the Nets in Barclays Center , 107-105, on a Caris Levert buzzer beater.
The Giants are a mess at 1-7, at this point, just get the 1st draft pick and draft a QB, unfortunately it looks like the Eli Manning era is over .
The Rangers are continuing their anti raid Warriors, by being 3-7-1, including 0-4-1 on the road .
It’s a rebuilding year , but I expect them to have at least 80 points come seasons end .
MVP:
Henrik Lunquist is playing his tail off for the Broadway Blueshirts.
The unpopular NY teams :
Nets : 2-5, lost to the Knicks tonight, but have earned high praise from the Warriors , after only losing to them by 6 last night 120-114, in Barclays Center .
Jets : 3-5, Two straight losses, all but officially ended any playoff hopes for Sam Darnold and Co.
Mets : They have a new GM in Brodie Van Wagren, but what will he do to turn this team , and franchise around ? Only time will tell?
Islanders : 5-4-1 Ever since they lost John Tavares, it feels like a rebuild year for them too. But not as low as the Rangers, a mediocre team at most .
So an 8th seed in the playoffs for the Isles is out there.
Rest of the week:
Tuesday:
Islanders at the emotional Pittsburgh Penguins , after the late tragedy at a synagogue, in Pittsburgh.
Rangers at the red hot San Jose Sharks ( NYR leads season series 1-0, after a 3-2 Shootout victory at MSG on October 11th)
Wednesday:
Pacers (4-3), at Knicks (2-5) , NYK looks for first 2 game winning streak of the season.
Thursday:
Penguins at Islanders.
Rangers at Ducks (5-5-2)
Friday :
Knicks play a Mavericks team with the same record as them , in Texas .
Saturday:
Devils ( 5-2-1) At Islanders.
Around the NBA:
Best :
As expected , the Warriors are 7-1 on the season, but tonight they ...
Final score
WARRIORS 149
Bulls 124.
Klay Thomson breaks Steph Curry’s 3 pt record with 14, to go along with his 52 pts in 26 minutes !
Wow!!!
Just an astonishing night for the Dubs .
Worst :
We expected the Cavaliers to be bad after they lost Lebron James to the Lakers , but not this bad , they fired their coach TY Lue after an 0-6 start to the season.
NFL :
The Los Angeles Rams are 8-0! Perfect season anyone?
NHL:
With an 8-3 Record, the Nashville Predators lead the NHL, with the offensive minded Toronto Maple Leafs right behind them at 8-4.
Leftover Yankees news:
The Yankees have dropped out of the Bryce Harper Free Agency sweepstakes , as they clearly have a deep enough outfield,( Which includes team MVP Aaron Judge ), and weren’t going to give him the 10 year $350 million he was asking for .
My take : Great move , we don’t need him .
The Yankees are reportedly “ Lukewarm “ on whether they should sighn Star Free agent Manny Machado, after his postseason performance/ antics with the Los Angeles Dodgers .
If the Yankees sighn Machado , it will fill the void at shortstop, as Didi Gregorius had to undergo Tommy John Surgery for the Yankees, and will be out until at least July .
Andrew Mccutchen was criticized, after congratulating good friend Steve Pearce in his MVP, calm down people!
