2 YEARS LATER... STILL CRAZY HOW UMBC DID IT.

Once again, blown away by how UMBC did it. But man, did we learn a lot of lessons from their big 16 over 1 upset of Virginia in the first round of March Madness 2018.

1. NEVER TAKE ANYTHING FOR GRANTED:

Virginia showed a lack of urgency in this game, air -balling several 3 point attempts. That was unlike them at all this year. They looked a bit disinterested.

As for UMBC, they showed resilience and weren’t afraid when they were missing their outside shots early, as they kept shooting and didn’t stop once they didn’t stop and rode the wave to victory.

2. NEVER SAY NEVER:

Even the commentators were shocked, everyone wrote off UMBC, saying they wouldn’t coke close to defeating UVA and who were they as a small school to make history? Well, they shocked the world by winning it 74-54 and becoming the first 16 seed to upend a 1 seed in NCAA history.

BIG THINGS COME IN SMALL PACKAGES:

UMBC player, KJ Aura was the smallest guy on the court at 5,8, but that didn’t stop him from showing off his ball handling, his hustle and his outside shot extending the UMBC lead in the second half when UVA seemed to getting back into the contest.

TOUGH IT OUT:

UMBC leading scorer, Jordan Lyles was injured in this game twice, and still managed to put up 28 points, inspiring his other teammates to work together and achieve the dream, which they did.

WHEN YOU FALL DOWN, GET BACK UP:

That’s what Virginia did, as they rebounded from this loss to win the national championship next year. They had a scare in the first round as the 1seed again trailing by 14 at the break to Gardner Hill, but stormed back to win it and never looked back on the way to a title.

Well done Cavs!!
