Boy what a first round that was at the US Open!

We witnessed history, and got to see living legends at their best, so let's dive right in!

WOMEN'S:

The big story of round 1 is obviously the number 1 seed going out as Simona Halep, became the first number 1 seed at the US Open, to fall in the first round she lost, 6-2,6-4, to unranked Kaia Kanepi.

Meanwhile, Serena, and Venus Williams, both moved closer to a possible third-round clash, as Venus won her first round match over unranked Svetlana Kuznetsova, 6-3,5-7, 6-3, while the younger sister Serena, won in straight sets, over unranked Magda Linette 6-4,6-0.

MENS SIDE:

The legends moved on in round 1, but first we have some notable upsets going around.

Unranked Stan Wawrinka defeats 8 seed, Grigor Dimitrov, 6-3,6-2,7-5.

Kyle Edmund lost to unranked Pablo Lorenzi, 4-6,6-4,7-5,6-1.

Sam Querry lost to Andreas Seppi 6-7,6-4,6-2,2-1 ( Sam had to pull out of the match due to injury)

LEGENDS

Mens no 1 seed Rafael Nadal, moved on defeating David Ferrer 6-3,3-4,as Ferrer, ( for the first time in his career) pulled out with an injury. This one was extra sad, as it was David's last ever grand slam,as he announced at the begging of the year, that this year would be his last.

So it was really sad to see David go out like that, especially in his last ver grand slam.

Juan Martin Delpotro defeated Donald Young, 6-0,6-3,6-4.

Andy Murray moved on, defeating James Duckworth, 6-7,6-3,7-5,6-3.

Novak Djokovic , defeated Martin Fucsovics , 6-3,3-6,6-4,6-0. Novak won last 10 games of match.

Finally, Roger Federer , defeated Yoshito Nishioka 6-2,6-2,6-4.
