A LETTER TO YANKEES FANS: 12/6/18

Dear Yankees fans

I know that for me and you , this past week, has been very frustrating in terms of the hot stove news coming out of your warm fire place .

Just how bad?

We were all shocked on Tuesday when our hometown boy, Patrick Corbin , shunned the Yankees, and went to the nations Capital and joined the Washington Nationals for 6 years $146 million.

But what is even more upsetting is what the Yankees offered Corbin , at 5 years $100 million.

On Tuesday , when I made my original reaction, I was very upset and said the Yankees took him for granted .

But after settling myself down, I realized that the Yankees did a good thing by baiting Washington into overpaying Patrick Corbin .

Look, Corbin isn’t an ace by any means , but he was the top pitcher on the market , and now that the Yankees passed on him , they don’t have many options to choose from.

Before we get into that however, I do want to say that I understand the Yankees “Take it or leave it” front office strategy to test if a player really wants to come here, even if it is Patrick Corbin.

Yes , there are times when the Yankees will do everything and anything , to get a player . But I think if they do that , then they must really be familiar with this guy, or in someway close to him , and really think he is their best option and will fit with the current roster .

But Corbin was the Yankees best option here , which is why I don’t understand, why they didn’t pull the trigger here.

As for the reports, that Nathan Evoldi is headed back to Boston, on a 4 year $67.5 Million deal. I know the Yankees weren’t getting him anyway, and just desperately held firm at 3 years for Evoldi , but In terms of money , just keep pressuring the Red Sox , until the brink .

That didn’t happen.

As for JA Happ, he is going to be 36 years old by next year ,and he is coming on the downside of his career, yet still wants 3 years . But the Phillies, appear to have him in hand , as they are prepared to offer him 3 years , while the Yankees will only offer him two according to reports.

However, JA will be 39 on that last year , so I get why the Yankees are only offering him two .

After that of course you have Dallas Keuchel, but he is a very inconsistent pitcher so I wouldn’t really trust him for more than two years at most .

But I say this my fellow Yankees fans , as much as all of this uncertainty is really annoying us , I say that we just need to keep the faith , and trust our management.

We need to come together and trust our GM Brian Cashman, as well as owner Hal Steinbrenner. They have been doing this for years , and have won multiple championships. Believe them when they say they aren’t afraid to go big , because they probably have a trade or a free agent sighing lined up right now, that we don’t know about, that will really boost this franchise and that includes pitching.

Also don’t worry , about the time until baseball season just yet, we still have some time until spring training even starts , so settle down , stay calm and let the Yankees management do their thing .

Whatever happens will come at the right time , and will really help our chances of reaching our goal of a World Series Championship in a way .

So bottom line , I ask you guys to join me in being patient, and trusting our management, because most likely when it’s all set and done , it WILL come to forwishen .

Love Yankees fan

Marvin Azrak

PS : Let’s go Yankees!!!!
