BATTLE OF NY UPDATE: NETS, ISLANDERS ATOP RESPECTIVE SPORTS.

Before we head into the weekend, their were some NY battles taking place this week that we should get into.

NETS 116 KNICKS 109

This was a nine man Nets team on Wednesday night, with the players from the blockbuster deal that landed them James Harden still transitioning. Kevin Durant led the way with 34 points, as Brooklyn took a lead and never looked back, winning their second game in what has been a wild two days for the franchise.

This is an embarrassing loss for the Knicks (5-7) , who let themselves get beat by a team with only nine players, and on a back-back in their own gym. This was a statement game people, Brooklyn seems to be taking over NY basketball.

ISLANDERS 4 RANGERS 0

Thoughts:

•Isles punish Rangers from wire-wire like the top 10 team they are.

•Lee, Barzel, Nelson, Eberle haven’t missed a beat, all scoring in this one.

•Varlamov keeps his hot streak from bubble rolling

•Rangers very sloppy, and overmatched

•They looked rusty and out of sync, even Igor wasn’t in the best shape

•Too many penalties, need that to be down over the next 55 games.

•pp wasn’t good, but showed some glimmers of hope.

•It’s game one of an eight game series, so plenty of hockey left. See you guys again Saturday night for game two.
