The 2018 Red Sox punishment for their own sign-stealing scandal was an equivalent to a slap on the wrist. Then again, while it wasn’t as egregious as the 2017 Astros, who lost their GM, Manager, 4 draft picks and $5 million, it was shocking to see manger Alex Cora not receive an additional ban here with his involvement in the Houston scandal resulting in a one year ban from baseball for him. Then again, it seems that the MLB has come to the conclusion that this wasn’t as bad as the one in Houston, therefore only docking a draft pick and suspending video replay operator Jon Watkins for 2 seasons, as he was the main culprit when it was all set and done in Boston. It was also found that only certain players were told ways of cheating by Watkins, only happened when a man was on second base, and Watkins only applied his input in a very small percentage of the plays during the regular season, as this discontinued once the World champions reached the postseason.
