🚨 BREAKING: BAUER TO REDS IN BLOCKBUSTER DEAL!

The biggest name on the trade block is now off the board! Ahead of the 4PM July 31st trade deadline, the lowly Cincinnati Reds acquired star pitcher Trevor Bauer from the Cleveland Indians in a blockbuster 3 team deal with the San Diego Padres.

In the deal, the Indians will receive slugger Yasuiel Puig, as well as Scott Moss from Cincinnati, while also acquired young stud Franklin Reyes, as well as Logan Allen and Victor Nova from the Padres.

As for San Diego themselves, they will receive young prospect Taylor Trammel from the Reds.

This trade comes as shock to many as the Indians were in a neck and neck race with the Twins for the AL Central while also having a nice grip on the 1st AL Wild Card spot. But now with Bauer gone, (sure the Indians have good pitching depth, but that hasn’t been the case this year due to injuries) the Indians seem to be waving the flag on this season if you ask me, while also getting ready for next year because of you look at their return, they got younger in this deal, but all of these players are Major-League ready if not now, then they will be next year.

So if your an AL Central foe or a contender for the pennant, watch out for the Indians next season!

Now that doesn’t mean the Indians can’t make some noise the rest of this year , but it’s highly unlikely they do so even though they have the ALs first Wild Card right now.

For the lowly Reds, they are shockingly going for that NL Wild Card now with this Bauer deal. If they do make playoffs, they have great front 3 with Bauer , stud Luis Castillo and Sonny Gray . Back end guys, Tanner Roark and Hunter Wood could still go in a trade which could net the Reds the pieces they need in their sudden Wild Card chase.

As of now, the Reds are 49-56 and 6.5 games out of the Wild Card with a lot of teams to pass in the standings to get there. Can they do it?

As for the Padres, they continue to get younger as they received a great young prospect in Trammel. They continue to get younger and load up for the “Breakout year” when all of these prospects and young guns will be in their prime and ready to be a force to be reckoned with in the MLB.

I like the acquisition alone for San Diego, but compared to what the other teams got in the deal, why would they even agree to this deal?

WINNER OF THE TRADE: INDIANS

Even though the Reds got no doubt the best player in this deal, the Indians got an extra large package for him. I can’t wait to see how this trade plays out on the field in the coming months/years!

RUNNER UPS OF THE TRADE: REDS

They got Bauer, that’s all I need to say.

OTHER TRADES:

STROMAN TO METS:

Since the All Star-Break, the Mets have been indicating that they would be sellers, and would head into rebuild mode. They had every reason too, as they were double digit games under .500 with a weak farm system.

However out of nowhere, the Mets went out and became buyers as they acquired Toronto Blue Jays ace Marcus Stroman In exchange for two prospects Anthony Key and Richard Woods. With this deal, the Mets seem to be entering themselves into the Wild Card race, hoping for a miracle run like 2015 when they went all the way to World Series after being one of the worst teams in July.

As for the Blue Jays, they keep getting younger as their rebuild continues.

Even trade here!

VARGAS TO PHILLIES:

The Mets now seem to headed back in the rebuild direction, as following the Stroman deal they traded starter Jason Vargas to the Phillies for a Double A catcher.

Yes I know that Stroman is better then Vargas, but this deal makes no sense to me for a team that seemingly wants to make the playoffs this year.

Vargas could’ve been an extra piece in an awful Mets bullpen this year and maybe give them some length saving their high leverage relievers for when they really need to use them.

What I think the Mets are doing is a half rebuild, which is basically improving your farm system while staying at least mediocre in the big leagues. This project will in my opinion take at least 2-3 years to complete, as the Mets will try and improve their farm system in the future while also getting MLB ready players to stay above the Big league basement as well.

As for this year though, the Mets are currently 51-55 and 5 games out the NL Wild Card with a lot of teams to pass. Can they do it?

As for the Phillies, they improve their pitching as Vargas will add depth to their rotation. Vargas is a good back end of the rotation pitcher, which is why I think he fits in well with the Phillies. He is headed to a contender that is currently in a neck and neck race with the Cubs, Nationals and Brewers for the 2 wild Card spots in the NL.

WINNER OF THIS TRADE: PHILLIES

Vargas can help them here while we don’t know what that “Double A Catcher” can do yet for the Mets.

SOGARD TO RAYS:

The Rays have acquired young slugger Eric Sogard from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for a “Minor league pitcher”.

The Rays are currently fighting with the Red Sox and A’s for the last AL Wild Card spot and have just bolstered their “Mediocre” offense with this move.

Even trade here in my opinion two young guns getting swapped.
