🚨 BREAKING: BYE BYE DIDI! DG TO PHILLY ON 1 YEAR DEAL.

Well, so much for all of those postgame tweets, clutch HRs and amazing art. Yes those were great memories that I will remember about Didi Gregorius in Yankee Pinstripes, but it will be a little hard at first to watch Yankee Baseball without him in 2020.

It’s official now and while I’m not surprised that it happened, it still is a bit emotional for me. SS Didi Gregorius has signed a 1 year $14 million deal with the Philadelphia Phillies, where he will now join former manager Joe Girardi, and former Yankee teammates in David Robertson and Andrew Mccutchen. From a Yankees perspective, it was a tough move but the right one as their wasn’t a need for him with 23 year old Gleyber Torres now manning the SS position and the Yankees needing that extra money to wrap up their pursuit of Gerit Cole. The Yankees will now turn to the speedy and 25 year old Tyler Wade, who is due for a great season, as their backup Infielder.

Didi had some great Yankee moments, especially in 2017, when he saved the Yankees season in the Wild Card game against the Twins, when he hit a game -tying HR to send the Yankee Stadium crowd into delirium and in the decisive ALDS Game 5 against the Indians, with a couple of clutch HRs, propelling the Yankees to a 5-2 win. In these 2019 playoffs, Gregorius hit a Grand Slam against the Twins that essentially wrapped up the ALDS for the Yankees over the Twins.

But unfortunately for Didi, he was a no- show in the ALCS against the Astros, and is coming off a shortened season due to Tommy John Surgery, which effected his free agent stock.

I wish Didi the best of luck in Philadelphia, as I root for him to rake at Citizens Bank Park in an NL East that has seen all kinds of offseason moves, from star pitchers Will Smith (Reliver) and Cole Hamels heading to the Braves, to star infielders Jesus’s Aguilar and Jonathan Villar to the Marlins, to pitchers Micheal Wacha And Rick Porcello heading to the Mets, making up for the loss of Zach Wheeler to Philly.

PREDICTION:

As of now, I think the Phillies go 90-72 and nab a Wild Card spot.
