On Sunday, the Yankees decide to trade for young Pittsburgh starter James Tallion, who’s coming off a year where he had Tommy John surgery, but was a recommendation of Gerrit Cole’s who was his teammate in 2011 while with the Pirates. “I told the Yankees, if you are going to bet on somebody, if you are going to go to battle with someone, that Jameson is the guy you want next to you,” Cole said. “He is not fazed. He always makes people around him better. He is one of the most resilient people I have ever known.”
The exchange saw four prospects go from NY to Pittsburgh, in Miguel Yajure, Roansy Contreas, Canaan Smith, and Maikol Escotto. This was a steal for the Yankees, with them retaining top prospects like Luis Medina.
