It’s a miracle! The two NY teams, the Giants and Jets have a made a trade! The Giants received DE (Defensive end) Lenord Williams in exchange for a 2020 3rd round pick and a 2021 5th round pick.
THOUGHTS:
From a Giants standpoint, I like it because we are getting a young and aggressive defensive end, as we try and beef up our defensive line that desperately needs improvement as that has been the glaring weak link of the 2-6 Giants who need improvement now and In the future. The only down side is that Lenord is a free agent at the end of the season, but the Giants reportedly are likely to re-sign him when that time comes.
From a Jets perspective, not only do you get two draft picks but it also allows young studs to rise and do well as the rebuild. Yes, I know Jets fans were hoping to be buyers this year and use there depth to make a run at one of the Wild Card spots, or at least finish with a 8-8 record but that doesn’t seem likely with there record at 1-6 and one of there best defensemen gone. So in the end, unfortunately for Jets fans, they most likely won’t get the .500 season they wanted but the hope is that good players come out of those picks that the Jets have received.
WINNER: GIANTS
I say the Giants because you don’t really know what the Jets will get out of those late draft picks, while you know what the Giants are getting in Williams.
