In a trade deadline buzzer beater, the Houston Astros became the unanimous title favorites as they have acquired yet another ace to join their ace stacked rotation in Zack Greinkie. Greinkie started today against the Yankees for the Arizona DiamondBacks and pitched well going 5 innings of 2 run ball before getting traded.
The Astros now have a rotation of Justin Verlander, Gerit Cole, Grenkie, Wade Miley and Brad Peacock. I know right! I couldn’t finish typing this without saying “Wow”.
This goes along with a bolstered bullpen of Ryan Pressley, Framber Valadez, as well as new trade acquisitions Joe Biagini And Aaron Sanchez.
I don’t even have to tell you how good this Astros offense is, I think it’s well known around baseball how great their offense is!
It’s headed by superstars Jose Altuvie, Alex Bregman and Carlos Correa!
The best part for Houston is that, they didn’t even have to give up top prospect Kyle Tucker in all of this, nor any Major Leaguers in these deals.
OTHER BIG DEALS:
GREEN TO BRAVES:
The best reliver on the market is headed to the Atlanta Braves. This is a big acquisition, as the Braves now have a big asset in their bullpen. That was their glaring weaknesses this season until now.
The Braves in my opinion are now the unanimous favorites in the NL East, as they already have a nice lead over the Phillies and Nationals.
CASTELLANOS TO CUBS:
The Chicago Cubs have acquired OF Nicolas Castellanos from the Tigers in exchange for prospects. This is a big bat for the Cubs, as they bolster there offense. Chicago is in thick of the NL Central and Wild card race. Should be a fun final few months!!
SCOOTER GENNET TO GIANTS:
What a story in San Francisco! Until 3 weeks ago, they were in rebuild mode and on the verge of trading franchise player Madison Bumgardner to start a big rebuild!
But then out of nowhere, the Giants won 14 out of 20 and are now over.500 and in the thick of the Wild Card race! Now seeing that, the Giants were buyers at the trade deadline and have bolstered their offense with the acquisition of Scooter Gennet.
Who will make out of a packed NL Wild card race? We will see!!
LEAKE TO D BACKS:
The Diamondbacks have swapped big contracts. Greinkie for Leake. They now have a new ace in Mike Leake.
Prospects to Seattle.
ROARK TO A’S:
Not surprised that he was traded. We knew that he was probably on his way out after the Bauer deal.
Reds get top Minor league prospect Jake Hoffman.
Great move for Oakland, as they have ac three great pitchers in Jake Diekman, Homer Bailey and now Roark, along with an already great reliver in Lou Trivino. The A’s bullpen is stacked.
NATS IMPROVE PEN:
Daniel Hudson, Ronas Elias and Hunter Strickland were all acquired by the Nationals today to improve their bullpen.
Washington is in the thick of the NL Wildcard race.
DICKERSON TO PHILLIES:
Veteren slugger OF Cory Dickson is headed from the Pirates to the Phillies. It’s a great move for the Phillies, as they have improved their OF depth.
Pirates get cash considerations and a mos likely minor Leaguer to be named later.
YANKEES MAKE NO MOVES!!!
The Yankees needed starting pitching and didn’t do a thing ,nor improve their pen since they didn’t get any pitching.
Seems like the Yankees are confident with what they have and will roll with it for the rest of the year.
Let’s see what happens. I see why the Yankees would do this. We have a team capable of being better then they are now. Let’s wait and see as the rest of the year unfolds.
