One down, one to go !
The Yankees bested the Phillies in the JA Happ race on Wednesday, as reports came out that the Yankees are about to agree to a 2 year deal with JA Happ, with
worth $34 million with a possible 3rd year and $17 million in the deal as well.
That will be based on IP .
Happ will get $17 million a year.
This is big news for the Yankees, who passed on Patrick Corbin (Who went to the Nats) and were able to complete their rotation by obtaining Happ.
The Yankees acquired Happ last July, in a trade with the Blue Jays , and Happ was stellar on NY going 7-0 in the regular season , before taking his first Yankees loss in game 1 of the ALDS against the Red Sox .
The reason why the Yankees went after Happ,36, and not Corbin, was because they felt more familiar with Happ, and had less risks with him then Corbin , who is though younger , has had Tommy John surgery in the past.
The only concern with Happ now is age , but you know what they say “ Age is just a number “ and Happ seemed to have proven that last season, and will look to do it again in 2019.
With Happ back in the Bronx , the Yankees 2019 starting rotation will look something like this :

Thoughts:
Great job by the Yankees being smart with their money here, only getting what they need and not going crazy just because of the amount of money they have to spend this offseason. I think Happ will fit right into the new Yankees rotation, which now looks a lot better than last year, when their glaring weakness was starting pitching.
WHAT’S NEXT?
The Yankees have shown a lot of interest in Manny Machado and it seems like they will move to that next . They have already met with Mannys agent a few times ,and will personally meet with Machado soon , according to reports.
AROUND DAY 3:
The Dodgers are in talks with the Cardinals, for a Jose Martinez trade!
Jose was a great 2B for St Louis this year ,as it will take a lot for LA to acquire him , considering the Cardinals already acquired star 1B Paul Goldschmidt from Arizona.
The Yankees are still in play for Zach Britton.
The Yankees have said that they will not be pursuing Bryce , yet reports came out today , that they have met with Harpers camp, so they may just be playing possume with the media here.
The Texas Rangers, have agreed to a deal with former Yankees starting pitcher , Lance Lynn. The deal is 3 years $30
million.

The Los Angeles Angels have come to a deal with Phillies OF Justin Bour .
Deal hasn’t been announced yet , though shocked by the move , but then again, the Trout- Bour duo , should be fun to watch !
The Rays beefed up their rotation by sighning free agent pitcher Charlie Morton, from the Houston Astros .
Morton is a solid pitcher and could really lead the Rays rotation to a good 2019.
The Tigers have sighned SS Jordy Mercer to a 1 year $525 million deal.
