The Knicks have acquired (Or reacquired depending on how you look at it), Derrick Rose, in a deal with the Detroit Pistons For Dennis smith jr and draft compensation. Rose was a Knick in 2017, but was brought into lead this team to the playoffs, and didn’t do that, with the team going 29-53. Now, he’s being brought in again, but this time to not necessarily lead his team to the playoffs, but to mentor the young studs on this team, like Immanuel Quickly, RJ Barret, and Julius Randle.
Rose will be under his old coach from his prime seasons in Chicago, in Tom Thibodeau, who has this Knicks team playing hard every time they take the floor. Rose will fit right in, and begins his second Knicks career, against the Miami Heat in South Beach.
As for Detroit, they get Dennis Smith Jr, who was in the G-League, and draft compensation. Not bad for a rebuilding team.
