Things in Washington regarding their football team, just got a lot more crazy. The franchise is already looking for a new name, but now may need a new owner, after a report from the Washington Post included higher-ups in the Washington organization being accused of sexual harassment and drug/alcohol abuse within the market.
According to the report, these alleged cases have been happening since 2006, which doesn’t make long-time owner Dan Snyder look good in all of this. As a result of the fallout, the 3 people accused of it within the organization have either resigned or been fired. As for the workers who remain in the organization, they are furious finding all this out, and would like Snyder to sell the franchise, that is again still looking for a new team name.
The NFL are now investigating these cases, with the likely result wanting Snyder to sell the team.
Reportedly, that process has been underway for some time, with the potential new owner having a say in the new team name, with the Redskins nickname now having been retired by the team due to public backlash claiming it “violated racism”. Snyder will like to get all of this done before the 2020 NFL season gets underway, according to multiple reports across the community.
Personally, I think all this is ludicrous in terms of the name change, but as for the new information, I see why selling the team may be in the best intrest for all parties involved.
Washington has been a mainly mediocre franchise for decades, so maybe the rebrand starting with the new name and the owner can turn this franchise around.
