🚨BREAKING: NEWTON TO PATS

Look out AFC, the Patriots may have just outsmarted you yet again. On Sunday, 2015 NFL MVP Cam Newton agreed to a 1 year “incentive-laden” $7.5 million deal, that would now make him the new starting QB for the New England Patriots.

It looked as if the Pats would be headed for a rebuild with low-tier QBs in Bryan Hoyer and unknown rookie Jarret Stidham, but that’s no longer the case with this acquisition of Newton.

This move was also largely a formality, as many expected Bill Bellichek to pull the trigger on a QB of Newtons-caliber, once Tom Brady left town for the Bucs.

From a Cam perspective, he has a chance to mentor QBs, while also learning from arguably the greatest coach of all-time in Bill Bellichek, with one of the best young defensive units in football to back him up as well, making this a potential “reload” year in Foxbourough.

This is Cam’s chance to “reinvent” as a football player after a mainly failed stint in Carolina with the Panthers, only seeing one MVP award and a NFC title in 2015.

Should Cam live up to his expectations in New England, he would drive up the asking price for free agency next season, which would net the Patriots a 2022 3rd-round competitive balance pick, making up for their doc of a 2021 3rd rounder by the NFL for a “videotape violation”, against the Cincinnati Bengals earlier this season, when they accidentally shot film of their sideline rather then on the field while scouting them for a future encounter this past season.

The concession by the NFL, came just minutes after the Newton acquisition was announced. In this case, the Patriots outsmarted the NFL at their own game.

As for fantasty owners, Cam is far from a starter and there are questions of how quickly he will fit into the Patriots system, but he can be used as a low-risk high-reward guy off your bench for the upcoming Fantasy Football season, and just maybe become increasingly valuable as the season progresses.
