In yet another thriller, the Flatbush Falcons proved once again their trademark resolve can go a long way in the MYSHAL , as they ousted the MDY Warriors 7-6, and swept the season series, on Wednesday night (12/5) at the Warrior Dome.
After last weeks overtime thriller at the Falcons nest , ( Which saw the Falcons win 4-3), both teams knew that it was going be another thriller. However, tonight’s game was better than anyone expected.
The game started , and Flatbush came out flying, pressuring the MDY defense ,and Warriors goalie Marc Fallas.
The hosts did a good job of surviving, until Gerry Sabbag set up Jacob Kassin Who sniped one home to give Flatbush an early 1-0 lead.
But just like last week, MDY hung in there ,
and had their chances , as Joe V Gindi hit the pipe , coming inches away from tying this game up . Flatbush capitalized on that miss , as Joe Maymie socked one in to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead!
But just when it looked like Flatbush was going to run away with it , Magen showed their resilience, as David Betsh, and Joseph Shamah slipped a couple past Ronnie Novick to tie this contest at 2!
But the Falcons weren’t done , as 41 seconds after the Warriors tied it, Gerry Sabbag picked up his own rebound on a
breakaway chance , and gave Flatbush a 3-2 lead after 12 minutes of play .
The slugfest continued in the second period, 118 seconds in, Gerry hit the post , before David Betsh sniped one in from half court , and just like that we are tied again!
But the trademark resolve , that is the Flatbush Falcons, came alive for the rest of the period, as Richard Cohen scored on his own rebound , just 8 seconds after David’s goal . Then after some Flatbush pressure , Gerry Sabbag pounced on a loose puck , before Jake Linado scored on a 2 on 1 rush ,and just like that , the Falcons had a 6-3 lead , and it stayed that way for the remainder of the period.
However, despite being shorthanded, ( As Isaac Maleh , Alvin Ades And Joey Falack were all unable to attend) the Warriors weren’t going to go down without a fight , as 89 seconds in , Joseph Shamah picked up a lose puck , and got MDY within two. Then, 27 seconds later, David Betesh fired one home ,and just like that it was a 6-5 game !
After that , it was frantic action to the finish like , as both teams tried to maintain their ground , in some back and forth hockey.
Fortunately for the Warriors , it was them who litt the lamp next , as Joseph Shamah scored in tight , to complete his hat trick , but most importantly, tie this game up at 6!!!!!
However, the Warriors fans , forgot one thing about their opponent. Their trademark resolve ,as David Shalam sniped one past Fallas with 3:53 to go , before Flatbush kept MDY in check , to record their fourth straight win , and defeat the Warriors 7-6!
Before we get into the post game madness, it’s time for some fun facts! :
When the clock read 7:46 in the first period, the Eastern standard time was 7:46!
All of the Falcons wins have come in crunch time , meaning the third period, or overtime.
With this loss, the Warriors will need to say goodbye to their playoff hopes.
That was David Shalam’s second goal of the season, but first goal in crunch time !!!
Shoutout to Jack Hanan , for his great defense tonight .

Post game :
Flatbush, Jacob Kassin
“ Overall I think we all played amazing throughout the whole game. We got out there in the beginning and really hustled because we knew that this was a huge game for us if we want to make the playoffs.”
“ We all got a little worried , but we had faith in all of our offense men and Ronny Novick as well “ “ We lost zero confidence in our teams ability to get out there and score some goals to secure the win.”
“We all never give up and always try to punch some more goals in. Mamiye, Gerry, and our newest teammate Jake, never stop until the clock hits 0:00. Which really helped us get the win. They never stop hustling and always come up in the clutch for us, especially during crunch time.”
“Ronny has been playing outstanding throughout these past couple of games. He makes the big saves at the right time. Covering the ball and stopping rebounds is what we need to work on , but the defense also plays a role in that.” “ Other than that he’s on his A game all the time.”
“Magen came out very weak so we had the advantage over them. Over the course of the game they stepped up their game and almost stole this one from us.”
“ Of course. That was a point that we stressed in practice and before the game.”
( On the Warrior Dome bounces )
“Going forward I think we have to work on getting the ball out of the zone and get more shots on net”
“ The next game for us against HAFTR , is going to be a crucial game , in terms of making the playoffs”
“ It feels great ! We all played our hearts out this series and deserve the wins!” ( On sweeping the season series)
“ It feels good because they are our number one rival and it’s always good to see a rival go down” ( On MDY being eliminated from playoff contention)
“ I would say YDE or North Shore because they are both teams that we can beat and they play their hearts out as well” ( On their number 1 rival for the remainder of the season).
MDY :
Joseph Shamah :
“We kept on crawling back into the game , but we let our heads down right after and kept on giving up the lead. It was disappointing”.
“ It’s nice but I don’t care because we didn’t win” ( On the hat trick )
“I mean it doesn’t matter, we were down Alvin and Maleh. Two great players. We should have still figured out how to take this one”.
Up next :
The Falcons will go for their fifth straight win , when they go up against the HAFTR Hawks ( 2-2-1) , on December 17th at the Falcons nest.
As for MDY, they will look to stop their four game skid , against the HAFTR Hawks on December 20th , at the Warrior Dome !
