Well you know what they say, all streaks must come to and end and that happened for the Yankees on Monday.
Mike Minor shut the Yankees offense down and the Rangers did enough off of Masahiro Tanaka to defeat the Yankees 7-0. The shutout loss ends the Yankees streak of 220 consecutive games without being shutout.
Texas scored early in this one, as a Nomar Mazara sac fly gave Texas an early 1-0 lead in the 1st. Masahiro Tanaka never fully had “His big stuff” in this one, but he did a good job of limiting the damage going 6 innings of 2 run ball with the other run being a solo shot by Jose Trevino in the 6th.
After that, the Yankees low-leverage relivers entered and the game got away from the Yankees, as Delino Deshilds went deep for 3 of the 4 runs that Nestor Cortez gave up in the 8th and Shin Soo Choo went deep off Tyler Lones in the 9th to put Texas up 7-0.
Mike Minor shut the Yankees down today as he went 7 scoreless innings with 5ks before the bullpen completed the shutout victory.
MVP: Mike Minor
