You could feel the heat of the hot weather on Friday night (6/29) in the bronx., but you would feel hotter than you would in other places because of what was going on at Yankee Stadium . The yankees and Red Sox took their storied rivalry to new heights in game 1 of 3 in this fourth of July weekend clash, as the Yankees pumpled the Red Sox 8-1, behind 4 home runs by the offense and a blazing pitching performance by CC Sabathia.
Both teams entered and left Friday night with the two best records in not only the AL East, but the MLB as well.
But what was on the line was first place , as the Red Sox entered Friday night with an half a game lead over the Yankees , and the teams season series even at 3.
The pitching matchup was ,a red hot Eduardo Rodriguez for Boston , and an overall struggling CC Sabathia for the Yankees.
Everyone had the same playoff type mindset, the fans, players , and the manegment.
Once the game started, it didn't take long for the Yanks to strike as in the bottom of the second, Gleyber Torres tripled, which was followed by a blood single by Miguel Andujar to make it 1-0 Bomers.
Gleyber wasn't done as he brought in Stanton with a sac fly in the 4th to make it 2-0 Yankees. That would be the start of a big inn for the Yanks , who would go on to score 3 more runs, as later in the inning with a runner on , Miguel Andujar went deep to left for a 2 run HR and a 4-0 Yankees lead! The Bombers weren't done as Greg Bird made a homer to left center field and just like that it was 5-0 Yankees on back to back homers!!
Meanwhile as for CC, he was amazing as he went 7 innings allowing 1 run ( an RBI double in the 5th) on 6 hits while striking out 5.
The Yankees offense wouldn't stop and kept going , as Aaron Judge mashed his
21st Homer of the year in the 7th, a 2 run blast that made it 7-1 Yankees! Greg Bird would add on to the Home run parade in the 8th with his second homer of the game, ( The yankees 4th of the game) to make it 8-1 Bomers!
AS for the Bullpen , Chad Green and Chasen Shreve pithed two clean inns , to polish off the Yankees 8-1 blowout win over the Red Sox.
