CONFRAZIER MANIA! WHITE-HOT METS WALK OFF NATS IN CLASSIC!

Like Michael Conforto said, “The True colors of this team are starting to come out”. Those colors are orange and blue to go along with passionate and resilient players. Those colors haven’t shone any brighter then they just did this past Friday Night( 8/9) as the Mets rallied to stun the Washington Nationals 7-6 in front of a pumped up Citi Field in Queens, NY.

The Mets were down 6-3 going into the bottom of the 9th, before rallying to win it off big swings of the bat from Todd Frazier and Conforto. The win is the Mets 7th straight and 14th in the last 15 games.

It didn’t seem like a Mets victory was happening early on, as Mets starter Marcus Stroman struggled early in his 6 innings of 4 run ball with 9Ks outing, , as he gave up an RBI triple to Anthony Rendon, before giving up a 2run HR to Juan Soto in the 4th to give Washington a 3-0 lead.

But the Mets would come right back immediately, as Pete Alonso (From one Knee) went deep for a 2run Hr which was followed by a JD Davis blast to tie the game at 3 after 4.

In the 7th, the Nationals retook the lead, as Anthony Rendon went deep for a 2run Hr off Justin Wilson (1run Charged to Stroman) that gave Washington a 5-3 lead.

In the 9th, Washington tacked on another run to put the Mets in a 6-3 hole heading into the bottom half of the 9th against Washington closer Sean Doolittle.

Before JD Davis led off the 9th, you could feel the nervous tension inside Citi. But after Davis doubled and Wilson Ramos singled, the crowd was jumping again, as Todd Frazier came up as the tying run and blasted a 3run HR to left that tied the game at 6 and sent Citi Field into a frenzy!! Later in the inning, the magic was complete, as with 2 outs and 2 men in, Micheal Conforto hit one to the gap in right field that capped off an improbable 9th and an improbable win for the Mets 7-6 over Washington.

MVP: Michael Conforto

THOUGHTS:
