The trend continued on Tuesday night as the Yankees bashed the Baltimore Orioles 8-3 in the Bronx, NY to clinch the 4 game series. The Yankees will go for the series sweep on Wednesday afternoon (8/14) in their final game against the Orioles in 2019.
Literally from the first pitch, you knew It was the Yankees game to lose, as DJ LeMahieu blasted one into the stands off O’s starter John Means for an early 1-0 Yankees lead. In the second, Cameron Maybin singled home two more runs to put the Yankees up 3-0.
The Yankees would pour it on in the 4th, as now leading 3-1( After an Anthony Santander blast in the top half of the frame), they extend their lead with a 4 run inning, as Aaron Judge doubled home 2 runs, before Gio Urshela and Gary Sanchez singled home a run each, as when the dust settled, the Yankees had commanding 7-1 advantage.
In the 6th, now leading 7-2 ( After a Stevie Wilkerson blast) Mike Tauchman got in on the fun by doubling home a run to put the Bombers back up by 6 at 8-2.
As for the Yankees pitching, Domingo German was brilliant, as he picked up his MLB leading 16th win of the season by going 7 innings of 2 run ball with 7Ks.
Rookie Adonis Rosa made his MLB debut in relief of German, and showed great potential in the final 2 innings of the game, despite giving up a blast to Renanto Nunez in the 9th that made the final score 8-3 in favor of the Yankees, as they racked up their 15th straight victory over Baltimore this season.
MVP: Domingo German
THOUGHTS:
Great win! Domingo was great tonight by going 7 quality innings and the bats went off one again tonight! DJ did a great job of setting the tone for the game with that blast and the other guys did a great job of bringing home runs “Small Ball style!”
Tip of the cap to Rosa on grinding through those 2 innings as he really showed some potential!
Let’s sweep these guys away on Wednesday!!
