🚨🚨🚨DRAMA MANIA!!!!!! TENNIS MATCHES GO BONKERS, NFL OPENS, YANKS FEELING HEAT , AND MORE!

Sooooo much drama has happened over the past couple of weeks, so let’s get into it!

Tennis :

For the women’s, no drama really accured until the finals at the 2018 US Open .

Serena Williams faced off against 20 year old Naomi Osaka .

Serena was the favorite , but lost the first set 6-2.

Then in the second set things really got tense, as Serena Williams got a coaching violation , then after getting up 3-1 in the second set , Serena got broken to cut her lead to 3-2, and then smashed her racket.

According to the rules this was the second offense, and cost Serena an automatic point. Williams ripped into the umpire , and eventually went to far ( According to the ump) by calling him a thief this was the 3rd offense and cost Serena Williams in automatic game. At that point Serena was down a break at 4-3, and the automatic game put here down 5-3.

Serena was in tears now as she complained to the head referee saying that many other men do worse things on the court , and don’t get called for it , she also told the umpire “ You will never be on a court for one of my matches for as long as you live”.

Anyway Namoi Osaka closed out the biggest moment of her life 6-2,6-4 by besting her idol.

Osaka was in tears of joy during the trophy ceremony , while Williams was in tears of well sadness.

Osaka got a check for $3.8 million , signed a deal with Nissian , and got to hang out with LBJ ( Lebron James ) and Chaning Tatum , wow!

As for Williams, she got fined $17K for her actions.

For the men’s it was amazing, drama all the way through !

Rafael Nadal somehow rallied to overcome Dominic Thiem in their quarterfinal clash , 0-6, 7-5, 6-4, 6-7, 7-6, in 4 hours and 49 minutes ! A classic match , that didn’t deserve a loser , but tennis is cruel sometimes, sorry Thiem .

In a serving clash , Juan Martin Delpotro defeated American John Isner in 4 sets , 6-7, 6-3, 7-6, 6-2, to the delight of those extremely loud Delpo fans .

The win set up a clash in the US open semifinals with Rafael Nadal, a rematch of last years semi when Delpo won the first set 7-6, but only to lose the next 3 sets and the match to the eventual champ.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the bracket, Kei Nishikori stunned no 7 seed Marian Clici in 5 sets 2-6, 614,7-6, 4-6, 6-4 .

I was lucky to go to Arthur Ashe stadium to see the last quaterfinal between Novak Djokovic and John Milman , it was an incredible experience, seeing the grounds up close , the tennis shop , the players , the court , it was amazing! It sounds different being there , then watching it on TV.

Anyway the match was a 3 set slugfest , but Novak prevailed in 3 hours 6-3, 6-4,6-4, but a job well done by Millman.

In the semifinals, Delpo beat Rafa , 7-6, 6-2, as Rafa pulled out do to a knee injury.

Novak beat Nishikori 6-3,6-4,6-3, to set up an incredible finals clash between Novak Djokovic and Juan Martin Del Potro!

It was a 3 hour 3 set slugfest , the second set took an 1:35 minutes ,and the 8th game of that second set to 20 minutes!

But in the end Novak prevailed to win his second slam of the year 6-3, 7-6(4), 6-3 , and tie Pete Sampres for 3rd on the all time grand slam list with 14!

The two players that are in front of him are Roger Feder (20) , and Rafael Nadal (17).

What a great US Open! 50 years In the books!

MLB :

Let’s start where we left off, the Yankees were coming off a 6-3 loss to the Oakland Athletics, but rebounded and got a 5-1 uplifting victory!

The late rally of 5 unanswered runs , ( including 4 in the 8th) was keyed by Luke Voit and Adeiny Hecehveria HRs , as well as 4 RBIs by Araon Hicks .

The Yankees would however have a game to forget in the series finale, as they played like a bunch of little leaguers on defense, and couldn’t get the offense going in an 8-2 loss.

The Yankees rebounded , and took 2 out of 3 from the Seattle Mariners , but it was a painful loss in the finale , a late 3-2 decision, that could have given the Yankees a sweep. The first two games were 4-0, and 4-2 in favor of the Yankees.

However, these last few days have been awful for all of Yankees country , as they lost 2 out of 3 to the hapless Twins ( 2-7, 10-5, 3-1) .

As I write this on ( 9/13) the Yankees are 10 games out of first place in the division, and are only ONE game up over the Oakland A’s in the wild card race .

Numbers to know :

Yankees record 90-56

Red Sox record 100-46

A,s record: 89-47

The Red Sox have already clinched a playoff birth and have 100 wins for the first time in 72 years .

The Red Sox magic number to clinch the AL East is 7

The Yankees magic number to clinch a playoff birth is 7

The Yankees magic number to clinch home field in the wild card game is 16.

Up next :

The Yankees start a 3 game series with the Lowly Toronto Blue jays on Friday in the Bronx.

Masahiro Tanaka will go for the Yankees, while Marco Estrada will go for the Jays.

NFL:

Notes from week 1

Games record: 4-10-1 ( I predic the winners of each game just for fun)

MVP so far : AARON RODGERS

GIANTS: lose to Jags 20-15

JETS: Sam Darnold shines as Jets pound Lions 48-17. That was the big story of the week.

I am a Giants fan , but I needed to tip my helmet to the Jets in week 1 after their win.

The Giants showed hope in a devastating 20-15 loss at MetLife Stadium to the Jacksonville Jaguars .

The Giants couldn’t get past the Jags defense , and only managed one TD .

That was a 68 yard run by their rookie Saquon Barkley.

The game started , with the two teams feeling each other out , after the kickers got their FGs early ( which saw the jags take a 6-3 lead early in the second quarter ) The Jags upped their lead on the 1st TD of the game ,( A 1 yard TD from Blake Bortles to TJ Yeldon , it was a great drive by Bortles to set up the TD ).

As for the Giants offense, Eli Manning overthrew a lot , but also made some nice passes to Odel Beckham JR , and Evan Engram .

But when the Giants had TD chances in the first half , they didn’t capitalize And settled for another FG 13-6 Jags at the break.

The Giants came out of the break , and went right at the red zone , but still had to settle for an FG , 13-9.

The only reason, the Giants were in this game , is because of the defense, as they were able to tame Jags QB Blake Bortles.

However, the Giants offense seemed to do everything in their power to give the game , away as in the 4th quarter , Eli threw a pick six , that ended up being the big blow , as despite an incredible 68 yard TD from rookie Saquon Barkley, to cut the Giants deficit, they could never overcome the pick six , as they failed to make plays down the stretch , including muffing a punt , in the final minute that would have given them one more scoring chance .

Jags win 20-15

HERO: Myles Jack ( Pick six) ZERO: ELI MANNING( Threw pick six) UNSUNG HERO: OBJ ( Was a force all game , kept Big Blue in it)

Opinion on loss:

We were on the doorstep but couldn’t come through, we put a scare into the favored Jags , great job , something to build on.

Offense: Better communication

Defense: loved ur effort this week, keep it up!

Special teams : Needs work.

Up next :

The Giants head to Texas , to face the rebuilding Dallas Cowboys (0-1) on. Sunday night football.

Game time : 8:20

Trash talk :

Landon Collins ( Giants safety) said that the key to a victory against

Dallas on Sunday (9/16) , is to put the ball in Dak Prescott’s hands ( Cowboys QB).

Dak responded by saying “ Challenge accepted) 👀👀

NBA:

Russel Westbrook will undergo Knee surgery, and will be out a few weeks , at most he might miss the first few games of the upcoming NBA season in October.

Questions:

Robert Sutton:

Do you think their is a possibility that the MLB will change the playoff format ?

Because if they do we would get to see the Yankees and Red Sox play each other in the ALCS , and not the ALDS , plus it would mean more money for the MLB , networks, and both teams ,

So shouldn’t they do it ?

Yes Robert I think they should , for those of you who don’t know , the MLB playoff format goes like this .

Their are 3 Divisions in each league, (the AL , and the NL), and if I win your division, you are automatically in the playoffs!

Then the next two best teams , are called wild card teams , and they play a one game playoff, for the right to advance to the ALDS. Hole field advantage for the wild card game is determined by who has the higher Wild card spot .

If you still don’t get it , think of it as seeds 4vs 5 playing each other to see who goes the league semifinals.

The ALDS , is a best of 5 series, the top team out of all 3 division winners plays the wild card team , while the other two division winners play each other .

Then , the winners of both series meet in the ALCS( a best of 7 series) , for the right to play in the World Series, against the National League winner , ( who has the same format) .

So what Robert is asking , is can the MLB reseed the format , bc the Yankees and Red Sox are two of the best teams in the MLB , and it would be so much more exciting if the MLB just reseeded the teams after the Wild card game , which the Yankees are favored to get through.

If that happens , the Yankees would not have to play the Sox until the ALCS , because the Red Sox are the 1 seed , while the Yankees would either get the 2 or 3 seed in this scenario, and wouldn’t have to face the Sox in the ALDS.

Unfortunately Robert , MLB commissioner Rob Manfred says he likes the format just the way it is , and isn’t considering changing it .

Bummer.
