It was a frenzy Friday around the MLB , In terms of mostly rumors, so let’s get into it!
MACHADO:
The official offer from the Chicago White Sox is 7 years $265 million. With years 4 and 5 being opt outs.
Unlikely, Manny will take it, it has been reported, that if the Phillies sighn Manny, it would be at least 10 years $300 million.
Meanwhile, the Yankees ( The hardest team to get information from) , will probably get Manny at 7-8 years.
HARPER:
The Chicago White Sox , are reportedly “long shots” for Bryce Harper. That makes sense, the White Sox are coming off a 100 loss season and are in rebuild mode.
Meanwhile, the Nationals have reportedly upped their offer to Harper . It is believed to be “Much more than 300 million “.
However, it was also reported, that the Nationals are just trying to bait the Phillies into acquiring Harper for more money.
Kind of like, what the Yankees did to Washington in Patrick Corbin.
YANKEES NEWS:
This will combine everything into one.
The Yankees are reportedly not only engaged with Manny Machado, but it seems like Manny’s camp is giving the Yankees time to clear even more salary, (Like trading Jacoby Ellsbury or Sonny Gray). This will not only mean, Manny will get more money, but it also means the Yankees can get back in the Bryce Harper race, as it has been reported that he is willing to take less years to come to the Yankees.
However, many people believe that the Yankees would have to trade Stanton, in order to make room for Harper, as their have been offers , but not many good ones.
Note: THE HARPER THING IS NOT PART OF THE MACHADO PURSUIT. IT IS JUST AN IDEA!
In other Yankee news...
Zach Brittons potential deal with the Yankees seems to be closer to 4 years according to reports.
The Yankees have reportedly signed OF Billy Burns to a minor league deal.
He is a switch hitter, with a lot of depth on the depth chart.
PERSONAL OPINIONS:
I know it’s a long shot , but let’s say the Yankees get both Harper and Machado.
The question is how can you make room for them in the starting lineup?
Well here is a possibility that I think is very realistic.
It has has been rumored, that should the Yankees sign Machado( Which seems likely), they will move Manny to 3B, put Andujar at 1B and put Tulowitsky at shortstop to start the season.
Believe it or not, this actually helps the Yankees in this scenario, because you can leave Giancarlo Stanton at DH, while moving Aaron Hicks to left field to make room for Harper in center even though he plays right, I think center field will still be a good fit for him.
As for Brett Gardner, he can switch off with Aaron Hicks in left field, whenever Hicks needs a day off.
In a 162 game season, that is likely.
