GRAY SKIES IN TORONTO ,AS JAYS TAKE THE SON AWAY FROM YANKS

The Yankees were hoping that Sonny Gray could continue his career dominance against the Blue Jays, not going to happen. The Blue Jays lit up Sonny Gray early and often, as he lasted just two innings, in the Yankees 6-2 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night, (7/6) at Rogers Centre. The Yankees offense tried to make up for Sonny Gray, but ultimately couldn't' and lost the series opener. This hurts the Yankees in the standings , as they are now 1.5 games behind the Boston Red Sox for first place in the AL East, and the MLB.

The pitching matchup featured Sonny Gray against Sam Gavigilo , and right when the game started , Sam got into some trouble , but was able to work out of a 2 men on  jam in the top of the first.

In the bottom of the second inning, Sonny Gray imploded as he gave up 5 runs on 5 hits in that inning. It all started with a Randal Grichuk double to lead off the inning , then after Aledmys Diaz moved him to 3rd, Devon Travis blooped a single into center field that drove home Randal to make it 1-0 jays. Then after a wild pitch, Curtis Grandson drove Travis in with an RBI single for Toronto's second run. After Gray came back with a strikeout, Yangarvis Solarte singled, and  Justin Smoak drilled a 3 run  HR to right field and just like that it was 5-0 Blue jays, and after that inning was over, Gray would sit down for the rest of the night.

Aaron Hicks would continue his hot streak for the Yankees in the 3rd when he homered to center field, to put the Yankees on the board , as the Yanks now trailed 5-1.

Then in the 5th inning, Hicks would bring in another run, with an RBI walk and it's a 5-2 game now, with 1 out and Giancarlo Stanton at the dish,. Joe Biagini would come in and replace Sam after that walk, and after  getting the count to 3-0 , Stanton takes two  missing hacks, before taking a called strike 3 to end the at bat . That turned out to be the turning point in this game ,as Didi Gregarious would line out and that would end the Yankees threat.

After working 5 scoreless innings out of the bullpen, David Hale finally gave up a run in the 8th on an Tector Hernandez RBI double that put the Blue Jays up 6-2 , as that would be your final score.
