HAN-SWEEPO! ANOTHER HANAN SHUTOUT COMPLETES FALCONS HOCKEY SWEEP OF MDY.

Updated: Nov 6, 2019

The bar had already been set with the Varsity Hockey Falcons ousting the Warriors in a 5-4 back and forth thriller, so by the time the JV teams took the court at the Warrior Dome on Monday night (11/4), the crowd was on edge and ready for a battle. What they got, was another shutout by Falcons goalie Morris Hanan, and a Flatbush Hockey sweep, as Jake Laniado and Richard Cohen provided the bulk of the offense, to fly the Falcons to a 5-0 victory.

The game started, and Flatbush came out flying, as they put pressure on the MDY defense and goalie Saully Esses early and often. However, the high-flying Falcons offense led by superstar Jake Laniado and freshman Joe D Gindie, were unable to solve the All-Star goalie or capitalize on the mistakes of the Warriors defense. This failure to pounce on mistakes, was caused in large part to the veteran duo of Daniel Beyda and Joe V Gindi as their presence on the court help stymie the visitors attack and allowed the hosts to generate some shots of there own, which were stopped by Falcons goalie Morris Hanan.

When the buzzer sounded, the teams went to the locker room with goose eggs remaining on the scoreboard, despite Flatbush controlling the play for most of the 12 minutes.

The second period was more of the same, and this time Flatbush “Finished the job, as 5 seconds in, Ezra Habert pounced on a loose puck and tapped it home to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. This contest settled into a back and forth for a bit, with Hanan making some nice saves, but Flatbush would double there lead, as a turnaround shot by Richard Cohen went through the wickets of Saully to extend the Falcons lead to 2-0. This pressure would get to the Warriors, as a Leon Bardavid own goal tripled the Falcons lead (With Jake Laniado getting credit for the goal), and silenced Warrior Nation, with the Flatbush faithful taking over in the stands.

With this goal, the visitors had now proven they were “Off and running”.

With the clock winding down, Richard went at it again, as he socked one in between the pipes to put Flatbush up by 4.

When the horn sounded, the Falcons led by a tally of “Sixteen Munchkins to a Donut” at 4-0.

The 3rd period, was mostly a “Play it out period” with Flatbush defensemen Ezra Habert, Mark Mosseri , Isaac Dweck And Mike Shamah preserving the second straight shutout by Morrs Hanan, while Jake Laniado sent one home once for his first multi-goal game of the season, as the Falcons completed the Hockey sweep over MDY with a 5-0 victory.
