Gleyber Torres homered twice and captured the “HR Derby award” in the Bronx, in the Yankees 5-3 win over the Baltimore Orioles on a sunny Wednesday afternoon (5/15) in the Bronx. This was a game where the balls were flying into the stands at an unusual rate.
Try Mancini went deep in the 1st, but only to be answered by Gary Sanchez crushing a 443FT moonshot to right field to tie the game at 1 after 1. Then after, an Austin Wyyns RBI double in the second, Gleyber Torres resumed the home run party, as he walloped a HR to monument park in center field, before Camron Maybin connected for his first HR as a Yankee two batters later, to give the Yankees a 3-2 lead after 3.
Renantendo Nunez went deep of Happ to tie the game, but the Yankees obviously answered with a HR, as Gleyber Torres mashed his second of the game to left field to give the Yankees a 4-3 lead, before Mike Tauchman singled Gio Urshela home the first run of the game that wasn’t via the HR ball, as the Yankees took a 5-3 lead after 4.
After that, the Yankees pitching took over the game , as Happ lasted 5.1 innings, before Ottavino, Kahlne , and Britton were able to build the bridge to Aroldis Chapman who locked down the save to seal the Yankees 5-3 victory in game one of a doubleheader at Yankee Stadium.
