In front of a sell-out crowd on Tuesday night (11/5) at the Thunder Dome, the YDE Thunder JV Hockey Team put on a clinic, routing the apparent lowly HAFTR Hawks 11-2 on opening night in Brooklyn, NY.
YDE was in control from the moment the puck dropped as they scored two quick goals from Bobby Tawil and Rookie Jack Harary to take an early 2-0 lead which would hold up after 1 period.
In the second, the Thunder picked up where they left off, as Harary fed Sammy Cohen, whos’ redirection in front of the net tripled the YDE lead before a backhander by Tawil gave YDE a 4-0 cushion.
The hosts would answer a HAFTR goal, with another tally from Bobby, completing the hat trick, before a follow up goal from Harary padded the YDE lead, which would be 6-2 after 2 periods of play.
The 3rd period was complete domination from the YDE boys, as Sammy Franco, Ikey Dweck, Sammy Cohen, Ikey Greenstein, and Marvin Azrak, all chipped in with goals as the Thunder ran away with the contest winning it 11-2.
YDE were also backed in this game by goaltenders Eddie Khezri Nehoriai , while also receiving great defense from Steven Shemula.
It was also the 1st ever win as a Coach for Joey Saff, who kept his team focused and upbeat throughout the contest.
