In a rivalry game, the YDE Thunder defeated the MDY Warriors 4-0 on Thursday night (1/3), at the Warrior dome! This is the Thunders second shutout of the seasons they also shutout North Shore on November 17th.
This win, was emotional for Sammy Franco and Marvin Azrak, who were making their return to the Warrior Dome, while Charles Sultan won the cousin battle in net with Marc Fallas.
Coming into this game, MDY was very confident that they would win in their season finale on fan appreciation day. However, YDE was determined to win the " Cousins Cup", as they came out flying blitzing Marc and the MDY defense who were able to stand tall.
MDY hung in there and soon starting putting Charles to the test, who just like Marcs stood tall keeping the game scoreless as the first period continued.
After the " Feel them out" part was over, the physicality picked up, as both teams took two penalties each during the period. However, they weren't able to cash them in, which left the scoreboard showing donuts for both teams after 12 minutes of action.
In the second period, MDY cane out hungry and sent a barrage of shots the Thunder way, who were able to stop all of them, and keep the goose egg for MDY on the scoreboard.
After that, YDE pressed and scored, when Ikey Dweck found his own rebound and squeaked it by Fallas to give YDE a 1-0 lead with under 6 minutes left in the second period!
Penalties were called in the second period as well, but neither side cashed in on the man advantage, keeping the score 1-0 Thunder after 2 periods of play!
In the third, with the cup in their grasps, the Thunder came out with avenges, as they clogged the net with shots, before finally sneaking one in 33 seconds into the period, as Ikey Dweck struck agin, going top shelf this time, to give the Thunder a 2-0 advantage!
YDE didn't stop there, as Sammy Franco delivered on his proclamation " Im going to score in the third period", by roofing one past Fallas 17 seconds later to give YDE a 3-0 lead, and give the Thunder a sense of confidence, they were going to win the " Cousins Cup"!
The penalties picked up for YDE, as they killed a total of 6 penalties , while also picking up a 4th goal when Ikey Dweck completed his at trick by getting one through the MDY defense and past Fallas to give YDE a 4 goal leads the final minuted were preserving the shutout for Charles, which the Thunder did, as when the buzzer sounded, the Thunder were " Cousins Cup champions", with a 4-0 win!!!!

“We need to have better defense and better offense. As for Charles, he should know next year I’m not playing goalie and I’m going score so many times!”

Up next:
YDE (2-5-2), will focus on their midterms and enjoy winter break, before getting right back out there to finish up their season on January 29th against the Rambam Ravens (4-4-1) on January 29th at the Thunder dome. Game time is 730.
MDY:
Their season is over, as they finish 1-8-1 and hit the offseason, looking to build from the ground up on this season.
Leftovers:
Isaac Balsinao, made his return on defense after being on the DL for 36 days due to a broken arm.
When given the chance, Isaac was showed what YDE was missing for the last 4 games with some aggressive defense.
Ray Shamah played his best game of the season on defense. Nice going Ray!
