On Sunday night, the Yankees showed why every game counts, as they did something that Boston couldn’t do a week ago. That is sweeping them in a 4 game Series.
Once again, the Yankees rocked David Price and JA Happ And Luis Cessa came up with some clutch pitching to propel the Yankees to a 7-4 win, their 5th straight win over Boston dating back to last week while also extending their lead over Boston in the AL East to 14.5 games.
One of the keys to this game for the Yankees was to get to Price early and often, which they did. As Aaron Judge got the party started in the 1st with a solo blast to right to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.
Then with 2 outs in the 3rd, the Yankees blew the top off of the Price and the Red Sox, as they scored 6 runs to take a commanding 7-0 lead. Gio Urshela got it started with a 2run blast to give the Yankees a 3-0 lead. Later in the inning, Camron Maybin and Mike Ford, cane through with RBI singles that pushed across two more runs, before Mike Tauchman brought home two more with an RBI single of his own.
One again, the Yankees had gotten to Price, as he left the game with a standing ovation from the Yankees crowd, along with some “Who’s your Daddy “ chants, as the Yankees just keep owning him since he has joined Boston.
JA Happ started for the Yankees, and gave them length going 5.2 strong despite giving up back 2 back HRs in the 5th (To Christian Vazquez and Michel Chavis) and allowing 2 runs in the 6th (On an Andrew Benentendi 2run single).
In the top of the 6th with 2 on and 2 out, Luis Cessa relived Happ, and struck out Chavis to keep the Yankees in front, before proceeding to pitch 2.1 scoreless innings, which led to Chad Green closing out the Yankees sweep of the Bosox.

GIO IS A WARRIOR:
He fouled two pitches in a row off his right and left shin in the 6th. He was literally down on the ground and didn’t look good. But he got up, kept going, stayed in the game. He was taken out two innings later for precaution. But still a Gio is a Warrior!!
