JV B-ball:
In game 1, of a “Battle of the storms” at the Hurricane Center, the YDE Thunder JV basketball team rallied and overcame a halftime deficit to defeat the HANC Hurricanes 55-46 on Tuesday night (11/12), and improve to 2-0 on the young season.
YDE started this one out fast, ready to prove the long bus ride out to Long Island wouldn’t hurt them, as they took an early 12-8 lead before the Hurricanes would go on a 13-5 run and take the lead into the break 21-17.
But when the second half started, the Thunder came out more aggressive and with more urgency than the hosts, as Abie Khezri (18 points) and Ikey Greenstein (11 points) found their stride as YDE came out of the gates on a 14-6 run to take the lead and run away with a road win 55-46.
Also contributing in this win, were David Sayeg (6 points) and Freddy Soued (4 points), as well as Joseph Hamra, who while he didn’t have much to show on the stat sheet, had some great defense by using his aggression on the court.
UP NEXT:
The Thunder (2-0), will return home on Tuesday November 19th, when they take on the YDH Bulldogs (0-2) at the Thunder Dome. Game time is 7:30 PM.
VARSITY:
Oh how Sweep of a night that was for everyone at Thunder Nation, as the YDE Thunder Varsity basketball team completed a JV/V sweep of the HANC Hurricanes, 54-42 at the Hurricane Center on Tuesday night (11/12) in Long Island, NY.
YDE came out firing on all cylinders, as they took an early double digit lead and never looked back. Unbelievably, they held the Hurricanes to 14 points through 3 quarters and led 35-14 with one quarter to play. That lead would be boasted to 42-20, before HANC made a furious comeback and cut the lead to single digits, only to be held off by “MVP”, Maurice Mizrahi and the YDE Thunder, as the visitors walked away with a 54-42 victory.

The Thunder (2-1), will return home on Thursday November 21st, when they take on the Magen Abraham Kings (0-4) at the Sephardic Community Center in Brooklyn, NY.
