IT’S GLEYBER DAY!! RED-HOT TORRES PROPELS YANKEES PAST TRIBE IN WILD AFFAIR!

Gleyber Torres socked another 2HRs and the Yankees Bullpen picked up James Paxton and several ejections and defeated the Indians 6-5 on a wild Saturday afternoon (8/17) in the Bronx, NY.

The win moves the Yankees magic number to clinch the AL East Down to 28.

Once again James Paxton had a rough first inning as he has seemed to always do this season and it was no different on Saturday, as Carlos Santana singled home two runs to give the Indians a 2-0 lead.

Paxton would continue to struggle as the Indians continued to put up runs on the board in the 5th when Santana and Yasuiel Puig singled home runs to put 4 runs up on the board for Cleveland off Paxton.

As for the Yankees bats, they knew they had to get going early and often against Indians starter Aaron Clivare and they did ,as Camron Maybin and Thairo Estrada notched RBI hits in the 3rd that tied the game at 2. In the 4th, the Yankees used the HR ball as Didi Gregorious and Gleyber Torres went back to back to give the Yankees a 4-2 lead.

In the bottom of the 5th, DJ LeMahieu went deep to once again give the Yankees the lead before Gleyber Torres socked another one out of the park in the 6th that would give the Yankees insurance and a 6-4 lead.

Later in the 6th inning, Maybin was called out on strikes on a ball that was far off the plate and got into it with the umpire.

Trying to protect his players, Yankees Manger Aaron Boone came out to argue and got tossed out of the game.

In anger, Brett Gardner banged his bat on the Yankees dugout roof and he too got tossed which made the Yankees bench furious as CC Sabathia got tossed as well for arguing.

The Yankees bench had every right to be upset that Gardner got ejected as he didn’t argue with the umpires , cursed them out or do anything that would require an ejection yet the umpires (Clearly in an ejection mood) did it anyways.

After the teams got back to baseball, the Yankees bullpen came into play and kept the Indians offense at bay, as Tommy Kahlene worked a scoreless 7th and Zack Brittion kept the Yankees in front by getting out of a 1st and 3rd 0 outs jam despite allowing a run to give Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman a 6-5 lead in the 9th who shut the door on another Yankees win with a scoreless frame.

MVP: Gleyber Torres

THOUGHTS:

I’ll take it! Great job by Gleyber( 2X) Didi and DJ going deep and a great job by the bullpen holding down the fort.

We did a good job fighting through all those ejections and got the win! We lead the series now! Let’s clinch it on Sunday!!

YANKEES ARE SAVAGES IN THAT BATTERS BOX.

STATS TO KNOW:

Gleyber Torres now has 7 multi HR games this season. He is one behind the franchise record held by Mickey Mantle and Lou Gerich (8).

MARIANO DAY:

The Yankees honored Mariano Rivera officially getting inducted into the Hall of Fame with his own plaque that will stand in Monument Park at Yankee Stadium.

UP NEXT:

The Yankees will go for the series win on Sunday (8/18) when CC Sabathia returns from the IL to take on stud Mike Clevinger of the Indians.
