Gleyber Torres drove in 4 and the Yankees picked up Masahiro Tanaka as the Yankees rolled past the Red Sox 10-5 on Sunday night (9/8) in Fenway Park in Boston.
The Yankees got to Red Sox starter Rick Porcello early and often as Gleyber Torres went deep in the 2nd to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead. Then in the 3rd, Aaron Judge and Gary Sanchez racked up RBIs that gave the Yankees a commanding 4-0 lead.
Then in the top of the 4th, Mike Tauchman socked a 2run HR to bump the Yankees lead back up to 6-2. But unfortunately for the Yankees in the bottom of the 4th, Mike Tauchman left the game due to a left calf injury which will end his season.
In the 5th, Aaron Judge joined the party which was followed by a Gleyber Torres RBI force out later in the inning that pushed the Yankees lead once again to “Grand Slam range” at 8-4.
Up 8-5 in the 9th, the Yankees put the nail in the coffin of the Red Sox as Gleyber Torres and Edwin Encarnacion racked up RBIs that gave the Yankees a 10-5 lead.
As for the Yankees, Masahiro Tanaka had a “Rare off night” as he gave up a 2runHR to Jackie Bradley JR in the 3rd and RBI doubles to Mitch Moreland and Sandy Leon in the 4th that cut the Yankees lead down to 6-4.
Green relived Tanaka with an 8-4 Yankees lead in the 6th and ran with it as he went 3 scoreless innings keeping the Yankees in front.
Up 10-5 in the 9th, Jonothan Losiga came in and closed it out sealing the Yankees victory in Boston.
