Domingo German struggled in his return to the big leagues, and the Yankees bats went silent, as the Blue Jays took the rubber game of the opening three game series in the Bronx 3-1 on Sunday(4/4) behind a masterful pitching performance by Toronto pitching.
Making his first start in two years, German struggled throughout, never finding a rhythm, and it all came to a head in the third inning, when he allowed a solo HR to Vlad Gurreo Jr, and a two run bomb to Randal Grichuk, giving the Blue Jays a 3-0 lead, and their only runs of the afternoon. Micheal King would take over for German, and pitch brilliantly, turning aside 16 straight Jays, in 6 scoreless innings of work, keeping his team in the contest, and saving the Yankees bullpen for the future.
Meanwhile, the bats took the day off, as they were shut down by starer Tyler Zeuch through the first four innings, but were able to score in the fifth, when Clint Frazier hustled in for a double, before later scoring on a Brett Gardner RBI groundout. But the rest of the game, saw the Bombers bats go silent, and although they did put men on base, were unable to get the big knock, when they needed to, and dropped their first series of the year, losing the rubber game 3-1.
