Another one of the best pitchers in baseball is headed to the AL East. Hyun-Jin Ryu has agreed to a 4 year $80 million deal with the Toronto Blue Jays. Despite going 67-95, the Jays showed some promise and played elite teams close, backed by their phenomenal young core in Vlad Guerra JR, Bo Bichette, Lourdes Gurriel JR And Cavan Biggio.
One team they particularly played close games against were the Yankees, as Toronto only lost the season series 11-8 to the division champions.
Now having an ace to lead their young starting pitching staff in Ryu, who had the best ERA in the NL this past season at 2.32, the Jays can make some noise in the East, with many experts saying they can oust the Red Sox for 3rd place in the East this season, and maybe put a scare into the 2nd place Rays.
The Jays are still young, especially Vlad who is only 21, so they still need some time to develop and get better. But the way things are going now, once the Yankees potential reign over the East is over, the Blue Jays could be their predecessors.
PREDICTION: As of now, I say the Jays improves and finish with an 80-82 record, for 4th place in the AL East.
