JDSA RECAP: ANOTHER WEEK IN THE BOOKS

7/15

Essen lashed out to a 7-0 advantage, and led 10-2 with nine outs remaining, before Retro Grill rallied with four to get within 14-9 entering their last ups. Portraying the surge was Yehuda Bearkat’s “hitrick”, Benny Mizrahi’s homer, and multi-bomb games from Solly Turkieh Victor Anteby, and Moshe Ovadia, who helped their team ultimately even the contest, prior to Joseph Ade’s heroic walk-off blast propelling them to an enrapturing victory.

  • Simon Leviov, Ezra Gindi, Elliot MENEGED, and hit-leader Abe Uziel went yard as Glatt Bite outslugged Eat N Run 17-13, to pull into first place in the league.

  • After their 6-0-1 sprint to begin their campaign, Mikes Chicken dropped their second game in three days, as Slices earned a vital win led by Nimo Zayat, Ezra Khafif, and Jacob Saada mashing park jobs, while Eli Halabi had a three hit afternoon in the 12-5 rout.

  • In a captivating finish, the plethora of sluggers on Pizzia Plus fender off a Holy Schnitzel team still looking for their elusive win on the season 9-8, highlighted by An Alan Chakalo grand slam in the third inning. However, the fascinating component of this contest was a Sonny Mizrahi of HS triple play, who caught a fly ball, stepped on second, and fired to David Esses to simultaneously retire the side. Holy schnitzel nearly turned it into a win when David Hizmani went yard, but stout defense by Pizzia Plus sealed it.

David Raoul and Eddie Imani parked over the fence twice each, while Alan Chakalo, Imani, and Charles Shayak, chipped in with three hit afternoon’s. But the lead story resourced from the scintillating bat of Jacob Israel, who’s three hit, two homer and five RBI performance was an exclamation point on a resounding win in what has been a spontaneous campaign thus far for coach Gene Ash and Co.

  • Albert Ashkenazie set a JDSA record for bombs in a contest with four as part of a six RBI night, while Ezra Ashkenazie and Albert Zetune had two homers apiece as Essen scorched to .500 on the season with a 19-13 win over the suddenly reeling Mikes Chicken who’ve lost three of their last four games. Morris Mamrout also clobbered a ball over the fence and Joseph Zami had two hits and an RBI as part of a robust 12 run fourth that separated the two teams the rest of the way.

7/19:

  • In a defensive standoff, Slices edged Essen 4-3 for their third straight win this week behind a two RBI game from Arazi Cohen.

  • Yehuda Bearkat ,Moshe Ovadia and Joe Ades swatted homers and and Simon Kameo had three hits as Retro Grill pounded Pizzia Plus 10-4

  • Alan Fallas had three hits and was a participant in Eat N run’s home run derby that also featured Moshe Eliau and Jacob Orfali in their 8-4 win over Mikes Chicken who suffered their fourth loss in five games.

  • The talk of within league forums was when would be the day that Holy Schnitzel would seize their first victory of the season, and after 10 games and 15 days of camp, it happened. After an overnight deal which saw him dealt from Essen to the standings dwellers, Morris Mamrout renounced himself as part of Holy Schnitzel in style with a three run bomb in his first at bat on Tuesday. But the catalysts emerged from mainstays in Sammy Ashkanazi and David Esses, as the two combined for five homers and 14 RBIs, with Dave going yard thrice while knocking home eight, while Sammy did it twice, luring home six. It accumulated to a 23-16 victory over a stunned first-place Glatt Bite. Despite the defeat, Mark Edelstein had a career-high three homer, eight RBI day to keep his team within striking distance throughout the contest.
