LIKE A GOOD GLEYBER! TORRES HRS ONCE AGAIN LIFT YANKS PAST O’S!

If you look at the Yankees lineup on a nightly bases, you will see that different player get days off on different nights.

But if there’s a player in the that just keeps on playing on producing, it’s Gleyber Torres, especially against the Orioles.

Gleyber went deep twice tonight, to lead another Yankees barrage of HRs, as the Yankees continued to pound the O’s on Wednesday night (5/22) 7-5 at Camden Yards in Baltimore,Maryland.

The Yankees hit HRs early and often, while their bullpen survived a tough start from CC Sabathia, to secure the win.

Tonight, it was Thario Estrada who got the HR party started, as he went deep off Dan Straily in the second for a 2runHR that gave the Yankees a 2-0 lead. Then, a couple of batters later, DJ LeMahieu went deep for a 2runHR if his own to give the Yankees a 4-0 lead.

In the 3rd, the man who you expected showed up fashionably late, as Gleyber Torres went deep to give the Yankees a commanding 5-0 lead.

Up 5-1 in the 4th after a Hanser Alberto RBI double, Gary Sanchez went crushed one to left field that gave the Yankees a 6-1 lead.

In the 5th, Gleyber Torres mashed his astounding 10th HR in 11 games against the Orioles this season , to give the Yankees a 7-2 lead, and making everyone wonder why the Orioles don’t intentionally walk the red-hot 22 year old when he comes up to bat.

.

As for CC Sabathia, he didn’t have his best stuff tonight, as he surrendered HRs to Trey Mancini and Renantendo Nunez in the 5th to cut the Yankees lead down to 7-5, and give the Orioles life.

However, just as they had done so many times so far this season, the Yankees bullpen stopped the momentum cold, as Kahlene, Ottavino, and Chad Green built the bridge to Aroldis Chapman who claimed it out in the 9th, to secure an historic victory for the Yankees 7-5.

MVP: Gleyber Torres

STATS TO KNOW:

There are a lot of them tonight.

The Orioles record is 12 (By Lou Gehrig) for most HRs allowed by a player in one season. To break the record , Torres needs 3 more HRs in his final 8 games against the Orioles this season, as he is at 10.

The Yankees have now hit 3+HRs in their last 6 games at Camden Yards. That is the most by a team in any ballpark in MLB history.

The Yankees have scored 28 runs so far in this series, and 41 runs in the last 4 games. That’s an average of 10.25 runs a game!

The Yankees have now won 11 straight games at Camden Yards dating back to last season.

Despite the rough outing, CC Sabathia notched his 249th win of his career. Ironically, later in the game, Aroldis Chapman picked up his 249th career save.

Gleyber Torres now has 4 multi-HR games this year against the O’s. He is the 4th player in MLB history to do that in a season, and the first since Roy Sivers in 1955. That’s a 64 year difference!

INJURY NEWS:

CC Sabathia will be headed to the IL with a knee issue. According to Yankees manger Aaron Boone, it seems like he will only have to miss one start, which would be Tuesday (5/28) against the San Diego Padres (26-24) in the Bronx.

Any possibility of Giancarlo Stanton coming back next week is gone, as the slugger suffered another injury, and will be set back 3 weeks due to calf tightness.

Don’t expect to see Stanton in a Yankee uniform until late July, early August at most.

LEFTOVERS:

The Orioles scored there second run on a rare Torres throwing error.

THOUGHTS :

Let’s Go!! Another Yankees win! The HR barrage continued, and it was amazing to see the bullpen once again step up! Congratulations to Torres and the rest of the team on making history tonight. Let’s complete the sweep tomorrow!

SCOREBOARD WATCH:

The Red Sox and Rays both won tonight, so the Yankees still lead the Rays by 2 games, and the 3rd place Red Sox by 5-5 games respectively.

UP NEXT:
