Top Moments from this 30-19 stretch:
That 3-0 win against the Rays was a complete game thrown by Masahiro Tanaka!!
The Yankees won on my Birthday! 6-2 over the Blue Jays!
That 12-1 win over TB, was CCs 250th win of his career! A rare feat for pitchers!
From the last two games of the White Sox series until the 9-4 loss to the Astros, was an 8 game win streak by the Yankees that extended their first place lead in the AL East over the Rays and Red Sox.
One thing the Yankees will remember from this year is the sweep of the Red Sox in London.
In the All Star game, Masahiro Tanaka got the win and Chapman got the save, as the AL won 4-3.
Another thing the Yankees will look back on is Boone’s “Savages” rant, as after getting ejected in game 1 of the Doubleheader against the Rays, as after getting ejected for arguing balls and strikes, Boone went right up in the umpires face and called his team “Savages in the Box” and that phrase took off like a rocket as that has been the Yankees motto for the last week.
The “Game of the Year” so far this MLB season, was that 14-12 game between the Yanks and the Twins. The Yankees rallied down 8-2 to take a 10-9 lead in the 8th, before Miguel Sano hit a 2 run bomb to give the Twins an 11-10 lead.
But with 2 outs and 2 strikes in the 9th, Mike Tauchman worked a walk, before Aaron Hicks crushed the first pitch he saw to left field for a 2 run HR that gave the Yankees a 12-11 lead.
The Twins though came right back in the bottom of the 9th, as they tied it off Aroldis Chapman sending the game to extra innings.
But in extras, the Yankees pulled ahead again, as Gleyber Torres punched an RBI single to right, before a Wild pitch scored Austin Romine to give the Yankees a 14-12 lead.
In the bottom of the 10th, Ottavino loaded the bases with 2 outs in the 10th, as Chad Green came in to face Yankee-Killer Max Kepler who hit line drive to deep left field, that took Aaron Hicks back to the track to the wall, as he dove and made the catch to save the game as the Yankees held on for a thrilling 14-12 win!
Some more good news are the guys who have came back off the IL:
For example, AARON JUDGE!
Down moments from this 30-19 stretch:
The 8-5 loss against Boston, until the 10-2 loss in Chicago was a tough stretch for the Yankees.
The Yankees entered their most recent Rays series up by 6.5 games, and though they won the series 3-1 ( Including a doubleheader sweep to finish it off) , game one was a tough pill to swallow as Travis Darnu’d hit a 2 out, 2 strike 3run HR off Chapman in the 9th that gave him his 3rd HR of the game and propelled the Rays to a 5-4 win.
New down moments have come this weekend in Boston as the Yankees have been outscored 38-13 in the first 3 games of this series.
What is also alarming is that the starting pitching has given up 57 runs in the last 7 games. Horrific!!
The other sad moments have been all
Of the injury’s , CC Sabathia went on the IL twice in this stretch (And is on there now) , as well as Luke Voit, Domingo German, Gary Sanchez ( Who is still on now) and Giancarlo Stanton( Who came back in that 6-3 win over the Rays before going back on the IL after the 4-3 win over the Jays).
YANKEES ACQUISITIONS:
There have been so many injuries that the Yankees have had to acquire players off the trade market.
They have done that, as they acquired minor league veteran Camron Maybin from the Indians for Cash considerations, and he has become an instant star since joining the Yankees!
Another acquisition the Yankees made is the Edwin Encarnacion deal! Yes the Yankees acquired a Yankee-Killer for Cash considerations and a single A prospect Juan Thiem.
Edwin has also been amazing for the Yankees since being acquired!
Stats to know:
The Yankees are 9-0 when having to use the “Opener” this season, as homegrown talent like Nestor Cortez Jr and David Hale have stepped up big for the Yankees in those games.
The Yankees became the first team to homer in at lest 28 consecutive games that ultimately reached 31 ( 5/26- 6/30) games.
The Yankees IL status for 2019: 23 players in 27 stints, currently 13 players on IL. All of last year they had: 20 players in 23 Stints.
Before losing this series to Boston, the Yankees had gone 12 straight series without losing.
Game Preview: Yankees at Red Sox 7:05 PM.
The Yankees enter this game with a record of 66-38 leading the second place Red Sox by 8 games and the 3rd place Rays by 8.5 games.
However, they enter this game in a slump as they have gotten blown out in the first 3 games and have seen their 11 game lead whittled down to 8. Domingo German (12-2), will go for the Yankees, against Chris Sale of the Red Sox .
A win for the Red Sox and they will arguably be back in the AL East race, as they would’ve cut their deficit down to 7 games with 8 more meetings left after this season against their rivals.
This is also a big game for the Red Sox, as they enter today tied with the A’s for the second Wild Card spot, while also leading the Rays by only a .5 game in the Wild Card Standings as well.
Meanwhile, a Yankees win and they will leave Fenway with a seemingly safe 9 game lead and retain the best record in the AL, as they are currently fighting for it
with the Houston Astros.
Stats to know:
My record is 0-2 against the Red Sox . I went last year for game 3 of the ALDS, where Boston won 16-1, and then I went to that 8-5 game this season as well.
Will crank more out as the game goes along!
