MARVELOUS MONDAY RECAP 1/18/21 NY TEAMS BOUNCE BACK.

NETS: 8-6(1-0)

In his debut on Saturday, James Harden looked masterful, becoming the first player to notch a triple-double, in his debut with his new team. Harden popped off for 32 points, 14 assets, and 12 rebounds, while Kevin Durant went for 42 points, in a 122-115 win over the Orlando Magic.


KNICKS: 7-8(1-1)

On Friday, New York was handed their fifth straight loss 106-103, on the road to the Cleveland Cavaliers, in a game where Andre Drummond had 33 points, and 23 rebounds, propelling the Cavs to victory. Fortunately though, the Knicks bounced two days later against the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference, defeating the Boston Celtics 105-75(insta link), on coach Tom Thibeadou’s birthday. They then followed that up, with a 91-849insta link) win on Monday at MSG, against the suddenly reeling Orlando Magic.



RANGERS 1-1:

Artemi Panarin, and Pavel Buchnevich had two goals, and Kappo Kakko added one as well, while Alexander Georgiev made 20 saves backstopping the Rangers to a 5-0 bounce- back win. Saturday’s game, was also the debut in net for Islanders goalie IIloy Sorokin, who gave up five goals in his first NHL game.


ISLANDERS 2-1:

After splitting their first two games with the Rangers, the team bounced back nicely with a 1-0 win over the Boston Bruins. Semeyon Varlamov stopped 17 shout for his second straight shutout, and JGP got the game’s lone goal late in the third period.


NYCFC:

A first round win over Toronto In the bubble, sent NYCFC to the semifinals, were the would fall to the eventual champion Portland timbers 3-1. However, when the season returned in August , the team went 12-8-3, and made the postseason. As a five seed, they went up against Orlando City in the first round before falling in an epic shootout for the ages.

The team would see Los Angeles FC win the cup, before participating in the 2020CONCAF champions league, where 16 teams across eight different soccer leagues across North America, Central America , and the Carrbian, compete for glory.

NYCFC didn’t last very long, falling 4-0 to UANL from Mexico, who eventually went on to defeat LAFC in the final to win it all.


LIBERTY:

Injuries to superstar Sabrina Inescou, among others had the Liberty in for a long 2-20 season.
