MLB NEWS: BAKER, CLICK TO ASTROS, YANKEES MAKE MINOR MOVES.

The Astros have a manager  and a GM with some history to it, and the Yankees have been making some small moves. Veteran Dusty Baker, has struck a 2 year deal with the Houston Astros, that will make him the new manager, replacing AJ Hinch who was suspended one year  and fired, for being involved in the 2017 sign-stealing scandal that has rocked the organization and Major League Baseball. Dusty, 70, becomes the oldest manger in MLB history, and has previously managed the Giants, Nationals, Rangers, Angles and now the Astros. Baker has taken each of his teams to the playoffs, but has never won it all ,with his 2002 Giants coming as close as 5 outs away from the trophy.  In his press conference, Dusty laid down the law, saying that no cheating will happen on his watch. This seems be a  breath of fresh air to an organization that has faced backlash from the league and it’s fans for the cheating that has transpired. The Astros will o doubt be worse because of this, as AJ seems to be a better manager than Dusty , but Dusty is good and well respected in his own right. We will see what happens, but it’s a good move for them and I think  that Houston will still win the AL West because of their talent and now, good brains.

Houston also hired a new GM to replace Jeff Lunhow, who was dismissed and suspended along with Hinch, in James Click. Click, was VP of operations for the Rays, and will now take his smarts from Yale and Tampa Bay, to Houston.

YANKEES MAKE MINOR MOVES:

Some moves in the farm for the Yankees. They traded Stephen Tarpley to the MJarlins in exchange for young 3B Jacoby Nelson, and signed veteran catcher  Chris Ianetta to a minor league deal. Chris is coming from the Rockies and will compete with Kyle Higashioka and Erik Kratz, for the backup catcher’s job behind Gary Sanchez.
