Unsurprisingly, the Yankees have let Edwin Encarnacion go. They declined his $20 million option making him a Free Agent. Edwin was acquired by the Yankees in June for prospect Juan Thiem and had his moments as a Yankee. But when the playoffs came, he was horrific and was a constant “ Auto out” in the playoffs and that frustrated the Yankee fans especially when he was up with men on base. Personally, I saw him as a rental when we acquired him so I knew he wasn’t going to stay unless he played out of this world. The only thing I’m surprised about is that they didn’t buy him out and let the Rays pay off the $5 million, rather they saved $20 million and let him go. Nice move Yankees, and I wish Edwin the best of luck in Free Agency.
ROYALS NAME MIKE MATHENY MANAGER:
He went with the Cardinals to the 2013 World Series and now he has a fresh start with the young Royals. I like this move, great job Kandas City!
Mike also was a great player as he holds the MLB record for most games caught as a catcher without an error at 252.
