MONDAY’S W MARV 10/28/19. STROS STOMP NATS, KYRIE DROPS KNICKS, SPORTS EQUINOX +MUCH MORE!

Welcome to a packed Monday’s with Marv let’s get into it!

MLB: What a turnaround! The Houston Astros have won all 3 games in Washington and have taken a 3-2 lead in the World Series!

On Friday, it was Michael Brantley driving in 2 runs off Anibal Sanchez and the Houston bullpen going 4.1 innings of scoreless baseball to propel Houston to a 4-1 win.

On Saturday, it was 5 scoreless innings from Jose Uqrridy , a blast by Robinson Chrinos and a grand slam by Alex Bregman who had 5RBIs on the night as the Astros evened the series with an 8-1 win.

On Sunday, George Springer , Carlos Correa and Yordon Alvarez went deep, while Gerit Cole went back into the win colum as the Astros routed the Nats bullpen and Washington in game 5 They have outscored the Nats 19-3 in DC.

STAGE CURSE:

Before game 3, the Nats staff had a dress rehearsal of there World Series Championship celebration up 2 games to 0. But that won’t happen now, at least in Washington as the Astros have taken the lead in the series.

GAME 6:

Justin Verlander vs Stephen Strasburg in Tuesday in Houston.

THOUGHTS:

Wow! Reminds me of the 1996 World Series when the Yankees lost the 1st 2 games at home and won the next 4 to win the championship.

NBA:

In a battle of NY, Kyrie Irving dropped 26 Pts including a go-ahead 3 in Knicks rookie RJ Barrett’s face (Who dropped 20 himself) that gave the Nets a 113-109 win.

The game saw the Knicks rally down 19 in the 3rd quarter after a skirmish late in the 2nd between Kyrie Irving and Taurean Prince of the Nets and Bobby Portis and Julias Randle of the Knicks.

Wayne Ellington knocked down 3 straight 3s in the 4th to give the Knicks the lead, but that would be all as NY wouldn’t score for the final 3:41 as the Nets took control and won it 113-109.

On Saturday, RJ Barrett put up 26 points and Mitchell Robinson had some nice blocks, but the Knicks were pounded by the Boston Celtics in there home opener 118-95.

On Sunday, Kyrie Irving had 37, but the Nets fell in a heartbreaker to the lowly Memphis Grizzlies 134-133 in overtime on a Jae Crowder buzzer beater.

THOUGHTS:

Knicks have a nice young core, but sometimes they just look awful and I really don’t like when they run out of gas in the 4th. The big problem is there defense and stamina. However, they are a young team and will learn.

As for the Nets, good offense and Kyrie is a beast but the defense is unacceptable. Lots of miscommunication which has led to these 2 losses. However, this team is better then that and will only get better as the season goes on.

NHL:

Congrats Rangers! You ended your 5 game skid by defeating the best team in the league in the Buffalo Sabers 6-2 at MSG. Unfortunately, that momentum was short-lived as we fell to the Boston Bruins 7-4.

Bright spots in these last few games on the offensive side have come from, Artemi Pannarin(1 Goal), Ryan Strome (2 goals) Tony Deangelo (2 goals), Chris Kreider (2 goals), Micheal Haily (1 Goal) , Pavel Buchnevich (1 Goal) and Brady Skeji(1 Goal).

Meanwhile, the Islanders have won 7 straight and are 8-3. Phenomenal! Team hockey all around!

THOUGHTS:

The Rangers are confusing me. Sometimes they look like a WC team and sometimes they look like a rebuilding team. Which one is it? Pls answer the bell soon so we can have one mindset for the rest of the season? Thank you!

As for the Islanders, keep this up! I expect another playoff season from them.

NFL:

This was pathetic for the Jets as they fell to 1-6 with a 29-15 loss to the 4-4 Jaguars. Rasheed Griffin was really the only bright spot for the Jets in this one a he hauled in 2TDs and a 2 pt conversion.

As for Sam Darnold, he was inconsistent as he threw a couple of TDS but also threw a few picks.

As for the Giants, Daniel Jones (26 point of offense) , Saquon Barkley(1TD) and Daryuis Slayton (2TDs), were the only bright spots in a 31-26 loss for the 2-6 Giants against the 3-3-1 Lions.

The defense was once again awful, wake up guys!

THOUGHTS:

Wake up NY football as a whole. Unbelievable!

SPORTS EQUINOX:

For the first time since 2016, the NBA, NHL, NFL and MLB all had games on the same night, which was Sunday (10/27).
