Nice way to end the weekend, and we got some fireworks as well on Monday! Let’s recap the last 24 hours of sports!
• XFL IS AMAZING:
The new spring football league was a big hit, as 3.3 million viewers tuned in to watch the inaugural week, and there were some exciting results.
Behind QB Cardale Jones, DC Defenders defeated the Seattle Dragons 31-19.
In Houston, QB PJ Walker led the charge, as the Rougchnecks defeated the Wildcats 37-17.
It was exciting in NY, as the Guardians guarded the Tampa Bay Vipers cages to win 23-3 at MetLife Stadium.
It was a defensive game to end the week, but we had our first ever road win, as the ST Louis BattleHawks topped the Dallas Renegades 15-9.
KNICKS STREAK ENDS:
NYK were down 15, forced OT, got up 8 in OT, and blew it in 2OT.
Elfreid Payton missed a potential game-tying 3 late in the 6th frame, to send it to a 3rd OT.
IGOR SHINES AGAIN:
Shesterkin made 42 saves, as the Rangers dethroned the Kings 4-1 at MSG. Panarin, McKegg, Deanglao (Empty net), and Kako scored the goals.
Igor is 5-1, and the Rangers are 4 games over .500 at 27-23-4.
MLB CHANGING PLAYOFF FORMAT IN 2022.
@Dodgerslowdown on twitter worded this perfectly, because everyone was confused on what exactly the MLB is doing to the playoff format in 2022.
“▪️ 7 teams make playoffs in each league
▪️teams with the best records pick their playoff opponents.
▪️top seed gets first round bye
▪️no winner take all Wild Card game, best of 3 series instead”
NETS RALLY FOR WIN:
It would’ve been easy for these guys to fold, as they trailed by 10 in the 4th quarter to the 6 seeded Pacers, without Kyrie Irving, but they didn’t and rallied with reigning 3 point champ Joe Harris Knocking down 3s and some great defensive stops.
It ended with Spencer Dinwidee, hitting a game-winner with 3 seconds to go that gave the Nets a shocking 106-105 win.
