It was a packed week of sports so let’s get into it!
Rangers:
They hired a new president! Rangers legend John Davidson! Can’t wait to see what he does for the current New York Rangers!
NHL Playoffs:
The Bruins swept the Hurricanes(6-2,5-2, 2-1, 4-0) and are moving on to their first Stanley Cup Final since 2013! They will face the winner of the Blues-Sharks series in game one of the finals in Boston.
The Blues currently lead the Sharks 3 games to 2 (3-6, 4-2, 4-5(OT), 2-1, 5-0)
Game 6 is on Tuesday in San Jose at 8:00PM
NBA:
In the East, the Bucks lead the Raptors two games to one(108-100, 125-103, 112-118(2OT)
Last night, Kwahi Lenord scored 36 points, to propel the Raptors to an epic 2OT and 3 win in Toronto to get the Raptors back in this series.
In the West, the Warriors are a win away from their 5th straight NBA finals, as without Durant, they have taken a 3-0 series lead over the Portland Trailblazers (116-94,114-111, 110-99) with game 4 taking place tonight in Portland at 9:00PM.
The Warriors rallied from 15 down in game 2 to win, and 18 down in game 3.
They have been led by Stephen Curry, who has averaged 35.5 points a game in KDs absence.
The Warriors are 4-0 without KD in these playoffs dating back to game 6 against the Houston Rockets.
Mets: 20-25
The Mets have been absolutely atrocious lately.
They started off well, the day after I wrote “Why the 2019 Mets are better then you think” piece, as they defeated the Nationals 6-2 behind 8 innings of 2 run ball from Noah Syndgard and a grand slam from Wilson Ramos.
On Wednesday, the Mets lack of pitching depth came back up hurt them, as Wilmer Font got torched by the Nationals, while ace Patrick Corbin shut down the Mets offense in a 5-1 Washington victory.
But if you think that was bad, the series finale was worse. Not only did the Mets lose 7-6, when Keon Broxton struck out with the bases loaded and 2 outs in the 9th, but they lost stars Michael Conforto, and Jeff McNeil due to injury.
McNeil ultimately was ok, but Conforto was placed on the 7 day IL with a concussion.
But despite that forgettable series in Washington, the Mets has the gift of the schedule makers, as they flew to Miami to battle the 10-31 Miami Marlins, who were 0-6 against the Mets coming into the weekend.
But that all changed, as the Marlins rocked Jacob Degrom on Friday night for 7 runs ( 6 earned) in 5 innings in an 8-6 win, before shutting out the Mets the next two days 2-0, and 3-0, while only allowing a total of 3 hits in those two games to sweep the series, which was the Marlins first sweep in 2 years, with the last one coming in late 2017 against these same Mets.
Thoughts:
It’s unbelievable, and the Mets better do something quickly before this season goes down the drain, and that “Bold” offseason goes to waste.
