MORNINGS WITH MARV 4/9/21: PENS SINK NYR, ISLES MOVE INTO 1ST+ METS GET HELPED BY UMPS IN WIN.

Welcome to today’s series of “Mornings with Marvin”, as we take a look at what happened last night (4/8) in the world of Sports.


NHL:

PENGUINS(25-13-2) 5 RANGERS(18-16-5) 2

This was a crushing loss for the Rangers, as they were outworked, outclassed, and outplayed in their 5-2 loss to Pittsburg, wrapping up the season series 6-2, in the Penguins favor.

Elsewhere in division play, the Bruins(21-10-6) bested the Capitals 4-2, increasing their lead to 3.5 games over the Rangers with just 17 games left to play. The win was Jerry Swaymen’s second straight, as he backed up aa 40 save performance in his NHL debut, with 31 saves, propelling Boston to the victory.

Meanwhile, the Islanders(26-10-4) bested the reeling Flyers(18-15-6) 3-2 in shoot-out on Long Island, leapfrogging the Capitals(25-11-4) for first place in the Eastern Division.

In Detroit, Victor Ardvidsion recored a hat trick, as the Predators(22-18-1) rolled past the lowly Red Wings(13-23-6) 7-1.

MICHEAL CONFORTO STUCK HIS ELBOW OUT IN FRONT OF A TWO STRIKE PITCH,AND THE UMPIRES CALLED IT AN HBP,INSTEAD OF INTERFERENCE AND A STRIKEOUT ON MIKE, FORCING HOME THE WINNING RUN FOR THE AMAZIN’S. But while that was the big story in baseball Thursday, we also saw Rafeal Devers smash a 452fT bomb at Camden Yards, lifting the Red Sox(4-3) past the Orioles(4-3) 7-3.


NBA:

Luka Donic poured in 27 points, leading the Mavericks(29-22) to a 116-101 home win over the Milwaukee Bucks(32-19) in Dallas.
