NHL UPDATE: KORPZONE! KORPISAL, CBL, SHUTOUT LEAFS TO ADVANCE TO RD2+ ROUND-ROBIN WRAPS UP.

The Stanley Cup qualifiers wrapped up Sunday Night (8/9), with some exciting performances.


BLUE JACKETS 3 MAPLE LEAFS 0

Jonis Korpisalo stopped 27 shots, recording his second shutout of the series when his team needed it the most, as the Columbus Blue Jackets advanced to face the Tampa Bay Lightning in the sweet 16, with a game 5 win on Sunday.


ROUND-ROBIN:

The Capitals and Stars won their respective round-robin finales 2-1, over the Bruins and Blues, with the Stars-Blues game going to a shootout. The win for Washington, sets up a date with the Islanders, while Boston will get a playoff rematch from last years Eastern Conference Finals sweep, with the Hurricanes, who are coming off a sweep of the Rangers in the play-in round.

As for Dallas, the win sets them up with he Calgary Flames, while the reigning Stanley Cup champions in the ST Louis Blues, face the Vancouver Canucks.


Round 2 begins this upcoming Tuesday(8/11), with the Blue Jackets and Lightning at 3PMET from Toronto
