This team is on fire !!! They are the 7th seed in the eastern conference now, and have been led by Spencer Dwindiee and Deangelo Russel! We might have an NY basketball playoff team after all! Keep it up guys !!!

The rebuild is in full swing. But at least Henrick Lunquist made the All- Star team!

Team MVP : Besides Henrick, it’s Mika Zibanegad!!!

Islanders: 25-15-4

A 2-1 loss to the Rangers, was their first loss to them ever at Barclays Center. But this team overall, is on fire led by rookie Mathew Barzel, and the great goaltending of Ryan Lehner! This team continues to fight for that WC spot in the East!

NFL:

Colts stun Texans 21-7, to set up KC clash.

The Chargers sacked Lamar Jackson 7 times, as they upset the Baltimore Ravens 23-17, to set up a clash with the New England Patriots in Boston.

Cowboys use Dak Presscot, Amari Cooper and Ezikiel Elliot , to lead them past the Seattle Seahawks 24-22.

In other news...

The Jets hired Adam Gase to be their new coach. Adam was with the Dolphins for the last 3 years, and missed the playoffs all 3 times. We Will see how he does in NY.

Heisman trophy winner, Kyle Murray rejected the Oakland A,s MLB offer , and declared for the NFL Draft.

CFP:

Clemson crushed Alabama 44-16, in the College Football National Championship, behind 19 year old QB Trevor Lawrence!

MLB:

Mets new GM Brodie Van Wagen has been dealing this offseason.

Despite trading for Robinson Cano and Edwin Diaz. As well as sighing Wilson Ramos and Jeurys Familia. The Mets weren’t done, as they traded for young OF Keon Bronxton from the Brewers for 2 prospects.

The Mets also traded for 3B depth, by acquiring JD Davis and a prospect , from the Houston Astros for 3 prospects.

After that, the Mets got 2 prospects from the Indians , while trading away 3rd string catcher Kevin Plawecki to the Indians.

Despite all of those trades, the Mets still needed depth at SS and 2B, and they did just that by signing All -Star veteran INF Jed Lowrie to a 2 year $20 million deal.

Lowrie can play 2B and SS.

With that the Mets seem to be set for 2019, however they can get one more

reliever to really bolster their bullpen! But that appears unlikely.

Meanwhile in other news ...

Veteran 2B Brian Dozier has signed a 1 year $9 million deal with the Washington Nationals.

Catcher Yasmani Grandal signed a 1 year $18.25 million deal with the Milwaukee Brewers, after turning down a 4 year $60 million deal with the Mets.

Grandal said , taking the lower offer was better for the young guys on the market.

MACHADO:

White Sox : Turns out , they have been the only team to offer Manny a contract so far, at 7 years $250 million.Yankees: After sighting INF DJ LeMahieu, the Yankees seem to be out on Manny Machado, however, with the Chisox offer very low, the Yankees can acquire Manny, and still make it work with DJ.

Phillies: Philadelphia met with Bryce Harper for 5 hours this past Saturday, and reports came out today, that they vision a big 3 of Dallas Keuchel ( Free agent Starter) , Craig Kimbrel ( All - Star closer, who is still on the FA market) and Bryce Harper. This means the Phillies are now out on Machado.

HARPER:

Phillies: The Phillies are reportedly the “ Clear cut favorites “ for Harper, and are expected to make an offer to him soon.

Yankees: Recent reports have said , the Yankees are very much in on Harper. However, signing Machado, should take them out of the Harper race. The Phillies are far ahead of the pack right now.

Dodgers: It seemed that the Dodgers would almost certainly sighn Bryce Harper, after trading franchise star Yasuiel Puig to the Reds However, the Dodgers haven’t even scheduled a meeting with the slugger yet, as they haven’t had any reported interest in him.

YANKEES:

The New York Yankees have shockingly signed DJ LeMahieu to a 2 year $24 million deal. DJ will be used for infield depth, and could very well be the starting 2B for the Yankees in 2019, should the Bronx Bombers pass on Machado.

TENNIS:

The 2019 Australian Open is underway!!!

Before I get into the results of round 1, I would like to congratulate Novak Djokovic on his 2018 year end number 1 ranking. Novak won Wimbledon and the US Open, as well as many other tournaments.

Congrats Novak you earned it!!!!

Round 1:

Well I guess will start with Novak then. He had a routine round 1 win over Marcus Kruger 6-3,6-2,6-2.

Other headlines

Rafa , Rodger breez through round 1 matches.

Serena , Venus , Osaka all make it to round 2.

Women’s number 1 seed Simon’s Halep ousted Kyle Kanepi with a 6-8, 6-4, 6-2 win!

Men’s no 9 seed John Isner was ousted in round 1, by falling in 4 sets to fellow American Ryan Okepla.
