Entering Friday night , with an 8 game losing streak ( And most of them being “ Heartbreak Hotel” losses ) , the Brooklyn Nets started a winning streak , stunning the NBA Best Toronto Raptors 106-105 in overtime, before fending off the New York Knicks on Saturday night (12/8) 112-104 at MSG .
So what has happened lately ? Well Brooklyn has really raised their 3 point percentage, and have really played some determined ball on the defensive end.
This charge has been led by Spencer Dinwidee , who has really taken charge consistently for Brooklyn after Levrt went down . He has been backed up by Allen Crabtree , and Denaglalo Russel as well.
Despite these two wins , the Nets ( 10-18) still need a few more wins to get themselves into playoff position.
Up next for Brooklyn, are the Philadelphia 76ers(18-9) on Wednesday night (12/12) at Wells Fargo center in Philly at 7:00 PM.
As for the Knicks (8-20), lack of execution hurt them , as they tried to rally from an 18 point second half deficit.
They got it to 5 late , but weren’t able to capitalize on their chances , as Brooklyn did a great job of hanging tough and closing it out .
The Knicks fell despite Enes Kanters 23 pts , and will look to end their 2 game skid on Sunday night( 12/9) at home against the Charlotte Hornets (12-13) at 7 PM.
Other NY teams :
Rangers : 14-12-3
After going 1-4-1, the Rangers returned from their bye week, with a 5-4 SO ( Shootout ) win over the Florida Panthers in the Sunshine State .
They will look to continue that on Monday night (12/10) at the Tampa Bay Lightning (23-7-2) at 7:30 PM.
Note : Rangers and Islanders have the same record. Isles to face the Pittsburgh Penguins (12-6-2) tomorrow night at Barclays Center. Game time is 7!
Giants : 5-8:
With OBJ out due to injury , the Giants still managed to upset the playoff hopeful Washington Redskins today 40-16 in DC!!!
Saquon was in beast mode once again and so was Eli Manning, who hit Sterling Sheppard twice in the end zone !!!!
On defense, the Giants did a great job of shutting down Mark Sanchez , as they raced out to a 40-0 lead , before the backups came in on mop up duty.
Jets :4-9
Finally, the Jets won again.
They defeated the Buffalo Bills 27-23, behind Sam Darnold, who brought them from behind a couple scores to win on a. 4th and goal TD hand off to Elissa McGwire.
Yankees: Some rumors out of Yankee land today .
Yankees not giving Machado $300 million should they land him
Thoughts: I don’t know why they wouldn’t give him 300 mil. After all, they have the most money out of any team to spend this offseason. However, I like how they are being smart here as well, because they are also looking for relief pitchers, that last starting pitcher and Bryce Harper?
George Steinbrenner misses the Hall of Fame,as Lee Smith and Harold Baines get in: The ” Old Timers” part of the HOF class was announced today, and I am shocked that Steinbrenner wasn’t elected into the HOF. George took over for the Bombers in 1973, and won. 6 championships, while paving the road for more.
The Yankees can still have Hall of Farmers this year , as Mariano Rivera, and Andy Pettitte, are on the ballot for the players , so we will see what happens there .
As for George , we will have to wait until next year .
Yankees, Padres nearing Gray Trade : We should get more tomorrow, but like iv said multiple times , the Yankees are trying to get rid of Gray after a disastrous two years in the Bronx. 11 teams are reportedly in on Gray , so he is most likely getting traded.
It’s just a matter of who the Yankees get for Gray in return.
FANS :
Joseph Shabbot : Watch our for Deanglao Russell, he is really growing for the Brooklyn Nets.
Michel Levy : I think the Yankees should get Machado because, he will make their offense better and is a good replacement for Didi Gregorius at Shortstop.
I also think the Yankees should pursue Harper , because his swing really fits Yankee stadium, and though their Will be some arguments within the team , I think it will work out in the end .
Saul Ancona: Next year is our year for both the Knicks and Nets .
At the Winter Meetings, the Mets need Andrew Miller, Cory Kluber , AJ Pollock and Bryce Harper.
UPDATE:
Knicks lose 119-107 to the Charlotte Hornets tonight.
