July 1: 1965: The iniation of the Atlanta Falcons

July 2: 2005: Venus Williams defeats Lindsay Davenport 4-6, 7-6, 9-7 for 5th Wimbledon title.

July 3: 1903: Tony Clioinger becomes the first player in NL history to blast two grand slams in a game, as the Braves demolish the Giants 17-3.

1941: Joe Dimmagio goes deep for a walk-off 2 run bomb that extended his record hitting streak to 45 games. It would eventually reach 56 games before ending.


July 4: 2020: Joey Chestnut wins his 13th Nathan’s Hit Dog contest in 14 years, with a record-breaking 75 hotdogs in 10 minutes.


July 5: 2009; Rodger Federer ousts Andy Roddick for 6th Wimbledon title 5-7, 7-6, 7-6, 3-6, 16-14.


July 6: 1933: 1st MLB all-Star game ever sees the AL win 4-2. Babe Ruth hits the first HR of the game and wins MVP.


July 7: 2019: USA defeats Netherlands 2-0 in the 2019 Women’s World Cup final. They are your world champions!


July 8: 1979: Ownership trade!

The Buffalo Braves and Boston Celtics swap owners, with Jhon Y Brown headed to Boston and Irv Levin headed to Buffalo. Brown would go onto draft Larry Bird and a dynasty was born, where the Celtics won 3 finals in the 1980’s.
