OUTDULED! YANKEES FALL TO RAYS IN OPENER

Another well pitched game, but another loss for the Yankees, as a bad bounce and some amazing Rays pitching did the Yankees in, as Tampa Bay took game 1 of this 4 game set 1-0 on Friday(8/7) at Tropicana Field.

Masahiro Tanaka took the mound for the Yankees, and in his second start of the season, was brilliant going 5 scoreless innings, with only one hit allowed an 5K’s. Unfortunately though, 3 scoreless innings by Blake Snell, added on by scoreless innings out of Andrew Kittredge (2 scoreless), Peter Fairbanks (1 scoreless), Diego Castillo (0.1 IP), Nick Andreson (0.2 IP), and Chaz Roe(2 scoreless), kept the Yankees bats limited to 0 runs on 2 hits, all night. After 2 scoreless innings out of Luis Cessa, the Yankees turned to Adam Ottavino in the 8th to keep the game tied, but 2 walks, a passed ball on Gary Sanchez, and a sac fly by Micheal Perez put the Rays in the lead at 1-0. The 9th inning would see the Bombers load the bases with 2 outs, but Sanchez struck out, thus ending the ballgame.

UP NEXT: The two teams will play a 7 inning doubleheader, on Saturday, with game 1 being at 2:10 PM, when Gerrit Cole opposes Tyler Glassnow.
