QUICKSAND: DODGERS PUMMEL ALACANTRA, COMPLETE SWEEP OF FISH.

Dodgers rookie Ryan Pepiot celebrated his 25th birthday Sunday, defeating presumptive NL CY Young award winner Sandy Alcantara, as the Dodgers completed a home sweep with a a 10-3 victory over the Miami Marlins.

Pepiot, in just his seventh career start, went six innings of two run ball. Cody Bellinger and Max Muncy walloped home runs, while Will Smith drove in three, including a ground-rule double in the fourth that hooked the all-star hurler back to the dugout.

Alcantara’s worst start came at his biggest test thus far, as his final line read 3.2 innings, six runs, 10 hits, one walk, five K’s. Mookie Betts led off the game with a single and scored on Smith’s two-out knock.

Los Angles upped their lead to 3-0 in the second when Bellinger followed a two-out triple from Joey Gallo with a bomb of his own. Gallo flashed the leather in this one, using his arm to save a run, before sprawling to make two incredible catches robbing Miami bats of extra base hits.
